Day 1 Huangshan – Tunxi Old Street

Arrive in Huangshan City, private transfer, then free stroll on Tunxi Old Street for hairy tofu, Huangshan sesame cakes and Huizhou horse-head wall night views. [Attraction intro] Tunxi Old Street: Official: The best-preserved Song-dynasty old street in Huangshan city, 832 m long, lined with Huizhou-style horse-head walls and black tiles, a hub of Huizhou merchant culture and snacks. Personal note: Evening is best for strolling and tasting; hairy tofu and Huangshan sesame cakes are worth a try. Huizhou ink and She inkstones make good gifts.

Day 2 Huangshan Scenic Area Day Trip

Full day at Huangshan Mountain: Yungu Temple cable car up, visiting Shixin Peak, North Sea, West Sea Grand Canyon (first ring) and Bright Top. Overnight on the mountain for sunset. [Attraction intro] Huangshan: Official: Southern Anhui, a dual World Heritage Site famed for the “Five Wonders” of odd pines, grotesque rocks, cloud sea, hot springs and winter snow. Personal note: For sunrise stay atop or night-climb; West Sea Grand Canyon is stunning but steep; many steps, non-slip shoes and knee pads.

Day 3 Huangshan – Hongcun – Xidi

Sunrise at Huangshan (weather permitting), then descend and head to Hongcun for Moon Pond and South Lake; evening visit Xidi ancient village. Overnight in Yixian. [Attraction intro] Huangshan: Official: Southern Anhui, a dual World Heritage Site famed for the “Five Wonders” of odd pines, grotesque rocks, cloud sea, hot springs and winter snow. Personal note: For sunrise stay atop or night-climb; West Sea Grand Canyon is stunning but steep; many steps, non-slip shoes and knee pads.; Hongcun: Official: An ancient village in Yixian (Anhui), a 2000 World Heritage Site with Xidi, famed for its “ox-shaped” layout, Moon Pond, South Lake and Huizhou architecture. Personal note: Early morning and dusk have the softest light for photography; Moon Pond and South Lake are musts.
