Luoyang 5-Day Tour: Scenic Area & Scenic Area
Luoyang 5-day tour covering Scenic Area and Scenic Area and Scenic Area. Sightseeing tickets and shuttle bus included.
Highlights
Day 1: Huangguoshu
Assemble in the morning and set off for Huangguoshu, following the main route with the guide, visiting all the key attractions, leaving ample time for photos and rest; at noon, enjoy a local specialty meal, then continue exploring in the afternoon. In the evening, check into the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.
Attraction Introduction: This stop is Huangguoshu. Huangguoshu Waterfall is located in Anshun, Guizhou, and is one of the largest waterfalls in Asia, over a hundred meters wide with a drop of nearly seventy meters. Water cascades down with mist rising and a thunderous sound, creating a magnificent view. Behind the waterfall, there is a water curtain cave where you can pass through and view the waterfall from inside, offering a unique experience. In my understanding, the waterfall is most spectacular during the wet season (summer), but the heavy mist makes the ground slippery, so it is recommended to bring a raincoat or waterproof jacket, wear non-slip shoes, and watch your step.
Tips: The hiking sections have many steps and steep slopes. Be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to take the cable car. Visitors generally feedback that the main waterfall is spectacular and passing through the water curtain cave is a unique experience; note that the water curtain cave may get you wet. Libo Xiaoqikong requires a lot of walking, so wear non-slip shoes. Based on the actual situation, be conscious of time: arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings. It is better for the people to wait for the vehicle than for the vehicle to wait for one person, so don’t make everyone wait for you.
Day 2: Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village
Set off early from the hotel straight to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. First, listen to the tour guide explain the background and highlights, then explore freely at a leisurely pace, retaking photos at spots of interest. After lunch, take a short rest and return to the hotel in the evening to save energy for the next day.
Attraction Introduction: One of the main highlights of the itinerary is Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, located in southeastern Guizhou. It is the largest Miao ethnic village in the world, with over a thousand stilted houses built on the mountainside in layers. As night falls, the thousands of lights shine like stars, creating a spectacular scene. Here, visitors can experience Miao long table banquets, silver jewelry, and song and dance performances to fully enjoy the rich Miao culture. In my opinion, it’s essential to stay overnight to see the night view—the lights and stars are the soul of Xijiang; the early morning mist in the village is also incredibly beautiful, so don’t oversleep.
Tips: There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in the mountains, and the wind is strong on the mountaintop, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Visitors commonly report that the night view with thousands of lights is very photogenic; some say it feels commercialized but still spectacular. Remember to visit the viewing platform, and try the long table banquet at least once. Based on the actual situation, don’t focus solely on taking pictures—pay attention to your footing and surrounding environment, and make sure to stand steadily at the edges of the viewing platform and walkways.
Day 3: Libo
Today's theme is Libo. Avoid peak crowds by entering the park at off-peak times and follow the recommended route for an in-depth tour; have local cuisine nearby for lunch, then enjoy free activities or join the guide for additional sightseeing in the afternoon, and stay in a hotel for rest in the evening.
Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes the Libo attractions. Libo is located in Qiannan, Guizhou, and is famous for Xiaoqikong and Daqikong. Xiaoqikong features a water forest, the 68-step waterfall, the Wolong Pool, and other landscapes that resemble a fairyland. It is known as the "Green Gem on the Belt of the Earth" and is also a World Natural Heritage site. Here, mountains and water blend harmoniously, and the air is fresh, making it the most famous karst landscape in Guizhou. In my understanding, Xiaoqikong involves a lot of walking and its bridge tunnels can be slippery, so non-slip shoes are a must; the scenic area is large, so reserving a whole day to explore leisurely is recommended.
Friendly Tips: Many mountain roads are slippery, especially when going downhill, so pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps, and bring knee pads if needed. Visitors generally remark that the water in Xiaoqikong is clear and is called the "Green Gem of the Earth"; it's a perfect place to escape the heat. Note that the walking route is long, so bring some snacks and water. Based on actual conditions, the best times for photos are early morning or late afternoon—fewer people and soft light in the morning, golden glow at dusk; noon light is harsh and the area is crowded, so resting at that time is more worthwhile.
Day 4: Huangguoshu Great Waterfall
In the morning, gather and set off for Huangguoshu Waterfall. Follow the main route with the guide, visiting all the key spots one by one, leaving ample time for photos and rest. At noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the afternoon, continue the exploration. In the evening, check into the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.
Attraction Introduction: This stop is Huangguoshu Waterfall. Huangguoshu Waterfall is located in Anshun, Guizhou, and is one of the largest waterfalls in Asia, over a hundred meters wide with a drop of nearly seventy meters. The water plunges straight down, creating mist that rises, and the sound is like thunder, a truly spectacular sight. Behind the waterfall, there is also a water curtain cave that can be walked through, allowing you to view the waterfall from inside, which is a unique experience. From my understanding, the waterfall is most impressive during the high water season (summer), but the mist is heavy and the ground is slippery. It is recommended to bring a raincoat or waterproof jacket, wear non-slip shoes, and watch your step.
Tips: The hiking paths have many stairs and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to take the cable car. Visitors generally report that the waterfall is magnificent and the walk through the water curtain cave is a unique experience; note that you may get wet in the water curtain cave. At Libo Xiaoqikong, the walk involves a lot of steps, so wear non-slip shoes. Considering practical conditions, on long trips the biggest risk is dehydration, so carry a water bottle and drink in small amounts frequently. On the first night in a plateau or mountain area, avoid washing your hair or taking a long bath to give your body some time to adjust.
Day 5: Return Trip
The trip winds down: you are transferred to the station/airport per your departure time. If time allows, a last stroll downtown; pack early and check documents. Safe travels!
