Day 1: Erlitou

Assemble in the morning and set off for Erlitou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Erlitou. The Erlitou site is located in Yanshi, Luoyang, and is praised by scholars as 'the earliest China.' It is a large urban site from the mid-to-late Xia Dynasty, and artifacts such as turquoise dragon-shaped objects, bronze jue, and bronze ding have been unearthed, revealing the appearance of the first capital of the Hua Xia civilization. The turquoise dragon-shaped object is inlaid with more than two thousand pieces of turquoise and is hailed as 'the first dragon of China,' serving as important evidence of dragon worship in China. The Erlitou site museum presents the archaeological site vividly and is an essential stop for studying the origins of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that visiting the site after first learning about the academic controversies regarding the 'Xia capital' will provide deeper insight when viewing the exhibits. The museum's exhibitions are carefully curated and worth viewing slowly.

Tips: There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in the mountains, and the wind on the mountaintop is strong, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Visitors generally feedback that most think Erlitou is worth a special trip; it is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Considering practical situations, long trips risk dehydration, so carry a water cup and drink small amounts frequently; on the first night at high altitudes or in mountainous areas, do not wash your hair or shower for too long, allowing your body some time to adjust.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain. Follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes the Laojun Mountain attraction. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang, Luanchuan County. It is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains and a famous Taoist mountain, traditionally considered the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retreated for cultivation. The Golden Summit Taoist temple complex stands atop a peak over two thousand meters above sea level, with golden-tiled and red-walled temples amidst a sea of clouds, earning the reputation of 'a stunning feast on earth with a glimpse of worldly splendor.' The Ten-Mile Screen is the highlight of the trip—a high-altitude walkway suspended on a cliff offering changing views, capturing the peaks, cloud sea, and sunrise in one glance. You can take a two-stage cable car to the mountain. On clear days, reaching the summit allows you to view the sunrise over the sea of clouds, while in winter it is a popular snow-viewing destination in central China. My understanding is that it is essential to take the cable car early to secure the best lighting at the Golden Summit and Ten-Mile Screen; the top of the mountain is windy and cold, so a windbreaker and thermos are a must, and if you are afraid of heights, don't force yourself on the glass observation deck.

Tips: The mountain trails are often slippery, especially downhill, so keep your center of gravity back and slow your pace; knee pads are recommended. Visitors generally report that the Golden Summit cloud sea and sunrise are the main attractions, with many staying on the summit to wait for dawn. Note that the summit has large temperature differences and long cable car queues, so during peak season, be sure to go early. Keep track of time based on actual conditions, arrive at the meeting point five to ten minutes early. It's better for people to wait for the vehicle than the vehicle to wait for one person—don't make everyone wait for you.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Assemble in the morning and depart for Chongdugou. Follow the guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for taking photos and resting. Enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, and in the evening check into the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Chongdugou attractions. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan and is known for its vast bamboo groves, cascading waterfalls, and Henan western rural farming charm. It is a rare 'Jiangnan water town'-style summer retreat in Henan. The scenic area is divided into two sections, Jinji River and Dicu River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing water that is refreshing and pleasant; Dicu River features continuous bamboo forests, making for a lush green walk. Visitors can stay in farmhouses, sample wild mountain vegetables, and experience authentic life in the western Henan mountain villages. The pace is relaxing, ideal for family slow trips and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down and not rush to see attractions—walking in the bamboo forest and sitting by the stream is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou. Visiting in summer is the most comfortable, with refreshing coolness that makes you reluctant to leave.

Tips: The canyon water sections are slippery, so be sure to wear non-slip hiking or sports shoes, and make mobile phones and other valuables waterproof. Visitors generally feel that Chongdugou is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, when taking photos don’t just focus on getting the shot; pay attention to your footing and surrounding environment, and make sure to stand firmly on viewing platforms and edges of walkways.
