Day 1: Jiguan Cave

Gather in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the guide to visit key attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, then check into the hotel in the evening to recharge and prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Jiguan Cave. Jiguan Cave is the karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside, stalactites are varied in countless shapes, with stalagmites, pillars, and flowers illuminating the lights to create stunning colors. The temperature remains pleasant year-round, and the weather is warm in winter and cool in summer. The cave is densely packed with scenic spots, with changing views as you walk. With explanations, you can understand the wonders of geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It complements Longtan Grand Canyon with a cave and a gorge, making it a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. My understanding is that when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide. The formation and naming of stalactites are quite interesting, and it's easy to miss the highlights when you look at them yourself; The cave floor is slippery and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Friendly reminder: The climbing section has many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to take the cable car up and down. Visitors generally report that most think Jiguan Cave is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanation, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera angles. Based on actual conditions, the biggest concern on long trips is dehydration: carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; On the first night in plateau or mountainous areas, don't wash your hair or shower too long; give your body some room to adjust.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain. Follow the guide to visit the core attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes the Laojun Mountain attraction. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang Luanchuan County. It is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains and a famous Taoist mountain, traditionally said to be the retreat and cultivation site of Laozi, the founder of Taoism. The Golden Summit Taoist temple complex stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level. With golden-tiled roofs and red walls, amidst rolling clouds, it is renowned as "a spectacular feast for the eyes, a glimpse of worldly grandeur." Ten-Mile Painting Screen is the highlight of the whole journey, a high-altitude plank road suspended along the cliff that offers constantly changing scenery of peak forests, seas of clouds, and sunrises. You can take a two-stage cable car up the mountain. On a clear day, you can watch the sea of clouds and sunrise from the top, while in winter, it is a popular spot in the Central Plains for snow viewing. My understanding is that it is essential to take the cable car early to secure the best light at the Golden Summit and Ten-Mile Painting Screen; the top of the mountain is windy and cold, so a windbreaker and thermos are a must, and if you are afraid of heights, don't force yourself on the glass viewing platform.

Tips: The temperature in mountain areas varies greatly between morning and evening, and it is windy at the summit, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Visitors generally agree that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the Golden Summit are the main highlights, and many stay on the summit overnight to catch dawn. Be reminded that temperature differences are significant, and queues for the cable car can be long, so during peak season, it is crucial to start early. Depending on the actual situation, be punctual, arrive five to ten minutes ahead, and remember that it is better for people to wait for the vehicle than for the vehicle to wait for people—don’t let everyone wait for you.

Day 3: Erlitou

Assemble in the morning and depart for Erlitou. Follow the guide to tour the main attractions, leaving ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One highlight arranged in the itinerary is Erlitou. The Erlitou ruins, located in Yanshi, Luoyang, are praised by scholars as "the earliest China." It is a large city site from the mid-to-late Xia Dynasty, where significant artifacts such as turquoise dragon-shaped ornaments, bronze jia, and bronze ding have been unearthed, revealing the appearance of the first capital of the Huaxia civilization. The turquoise dragon-shaped ornament is inlaid with over two thousand turquoise pieces and is hailed as "the first dragon of Huaxia," serving as important evidence of dragon worship in China. The Erlitou Ruins Museum presents the excavation site authentically and is an essential stop for studying the origins of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that visiting the exhibits with prior knowledge of the academic controversies surrounding the "Xia capital" offers a deeper insight; the museum’s displays are meticulously organized and worth exploring slowly.

Tips: Many mountain paths are slippery, especially downhill sections; pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backwards and slowing your pace, and it’s advisable to bring knee pads. Visitor feedback generally indicates that most tourists believe Erlitou is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow your pace, listen to the guide’s explanations, and save time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, don’t focus solely on photography—also be aware of your footing and surroundings, and make sure to stand securely on viewing platforms or along trails.
