Day 1: Erlitou

Gather in the morning and depart for Erlitou, follow the guide to visit core attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Erlitou. The Erlitou site is located in Luoyang Yanshi and is acclaimed by scholars as the "Earliest China." It is a large capital site from the mid to late Xia Dynasty, unearthing turquoise dragon-shaped artifacts, bronze jue vessels, bronze tripods, and other heavy artifacts, revealing the appearance of China's first royal capital. The turquoise dragon-shaped artifact is made from over 2,000 turquoise shards embedded and is known as the "Number One Dragon of Huaxia," serving as an important testament to Chinese dragon worship. The Erlitou Site Museum presents the archaeological atmosphere and is an unmissable stop for exploring the origins of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that before visiting, one should first understand the academic controversies surrounding the "Xia Capital," then look at the exhibits for a deeper understanding; The museum's exhibits are carefully crafted and worth a leisurely visit.

Friendly reminder: The mountain roads are slippery, so when going downhill, pay special attention to shifting your center of gravity and slowing down. You may need a pair of knee pads. Visitors generally report that Erlitou is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanation, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera angles. Based on the actual situation, don't just focus on taking photos—pay attention to your footing and surroundings, and be sure to stand firmly at the edge of the viewing platform and boardwalk.

Day 2: Jiguan Cave

Gather in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the guide to visit core attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Jiguan Cave. Jiguan Cave is the karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside, stalactites are varied in countless shapes, with stalagmites, pillars, and flowers illuminating the lights to create stunning colors. The temperature remains pleasant year-round, and the weather is warm in winter and cool in summer. The cave is densely packed with scenic spots, with changing views as you walk. With explanations, you can understand the wonders of geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It complements Longtan Grand Canyon with a cave and a gorge, making it a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. My understanding is that when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide. The formation and naming of stalactites are quite interesting, and it's easy to miss the highlights when you look at them yourself; The cave floor is slippery and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Friendly reminder: The climbing section has many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to take the cable car up and down. Visitors generally agree that Jiguan Cave is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanations, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera spots. Depending on the situation, it's best to shoot early or late—the morning is quiet and the dusk is the most photogenic, while the noon peak is cramped and flat, making it more cost-effective to rest.

Day 3: Longmen Grottoes

Gather in the morning and depart for Longmen Grottoes, follow the guide to visit core attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's activities.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Longmen Grottoes attractions, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang dynasties. Currently, there are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and kind-looking eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after the likeness of Empress Wu Zetian and represents the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is known as one of China's three great grottoes and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: UV rays in the cave scenic area are strong. On sunny days, bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and remember to stay hydrated since the route is long. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the best sunlight at sunset on the western hills; If you need to retrace your steps along both banks of the Yi River, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and allow half a day. Based on actual conditions, dehydration is the worst on long trips; carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; On the first night in the plateau or mountains, don't wash your hair or shower too long, giving your body some room to adjust.
