Day 1: Baiyun Mountain

Assemble in the morning and depart for Baiyun Mountain, follow the guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for taking photos and resting; enjoy local specialty cuisine at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Baiyun Mountain attractions. Baiyun Mountain is located in the heart of the Funiu Mountains in Song County. From Yuhuang Peak, you can view the sea of clouds at sunrise. The area has a high forest coverage rate and is rich in negative oxygen ions, making it a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic spot, Jiulong Waterfall and the High Mountain Peony Garden each have their own characteristics. Summer is ideal for cooling down, and autumn is perfect for viewing red leaves, making it one of the rare high-mountain resort destinations in Henan. You can connect the spots by cable car or sightseeing bus. The summit offers a broad view, with clouds and mist swirling around, like a fairyland. My understanding is that summer is the best time to escape the heat. The cool mountain air contrasts sharply with the scorching city heat; getting up early to climb Yuhuang Peak to watch the sunrise over the sea of clouds requires some luck, but even if the sunrise is missed, the mountains in the morning mist are still beautiful enough.

Warm Tips: Many mountain paths are slippery; pay special attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps on downhill sections. You may want to bring knee pads. Tourists generally feedback that most visitors consider Baiyun Mountain worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you the most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, the biggest risk in a tour group is rushing through. Listening to the guide is the essence; the cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than photos. If you don’t understand something, ask the guide on the spot.

Day 2: Jiguan Cave

Assemble in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for photos and rest; enjoy the local specialty cuisine at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is Jiguan Cave, a karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside the cave, stalactites take on myriad shapes, and stalagmites, columns, and stone flowers transform into dazzling colors under the lights. The cave maintains a constant pleasant temperature year-round, warm in winter and cool in summer. The attractions inside are closely packed, constantly changing as you move, and with the guide’s explanation, you can understand the incredible geological transformations over millions of years. Together with Longtan Grand Canyon, forming a cave-and-gorge pair, it complements each other and represents a classic geological sightseeing route in western Henan. My understanding is, when entering the cave, follow the explanation closely, because the formation and naming of the stalactites are very interesting, and it’s easy to miss the highlights if you just look around yourself; the cave floor is slippery and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: Mountain paths have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to take the cable car up and down. Most visitors report that Jiguan Cave is worth visiting specifically. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, leaving time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Depending on the circumstances, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; queues at the main entrance are long and the taste is average. For local specialties, compare prices and ask first; local supermarkets often offer more genuine products.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Assemble in the morning and set off for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Chongdugou attractions. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan and is renowned for its vast bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and streams, as well as its western Henan farming scenery. It is one of the few “Jiangnan water town”-style summer retreat and leisure destinations in Henan. The scenic area is divided into the Jinji River and Dicui River sections. The Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing water and refreshing coolness; the Dicui River features continuous bamboo forests, offering a lush green view when strolling through. Here, you can stay in farmhouses, taste wild vegetables, and experience authentic life in western Henan mountain villages. The pace is slow, particularly suitable for family leisure travel and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down and not rush through the attractions—walking in the bamboo forest or sitting by the stream is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou; visiting in summer is most comfortable, with a coolness that makes you reluctant to leave.

Friendly Tips: The canyon trail runs along water and cliffs, so do not climb over the railings or play in dangerous areas, and keep an eye on accompanying children. Visitors generally report that most people think Chongdugou is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and save time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on practical situations, allocate your energy wisely: tackle major highlights in the morning when you are fresh, and slow down in the afternoon. Don’t use up all your energy on the first day, or you won’t have any for the following days.
