Day 1: Jiguan Cave

Gather in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is Jiguan Cave. Jiguan Cave is a karst cave in Luanchuan, with stalactites of various shapes. Stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers transform into dazzling colors under the lights, with a constant comfortable temperature year-round, warm in winter and cool in summer. The cave is densely packed with sights, changing scenery with each step. With the explanations, you can understand the miraculous geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. Together with Longtan Grand Canyon, forming a cave-and-gorge pairing, it complements each other and is a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. In my understanding, when entering the cave, remember to follow the explanation. The formation and naming of stalactites are very interesting, and it’s easy to miss highlights if you look on your own. The cave floor is slippery, and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: Mountain sections have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to use the cable car. Visitors generally feedback that most consider Jiguan Cave worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanation, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. In practical terms, the worst thing on a tour is to rush through. Listening to the explanation is the essence; the cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than the photos. Ask the guide immediately if you don’t understand something.

Day 2: White Horse Temple

Assemble in the morning and depart for White Horse Temple, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; have a local specialty lunch at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the east of Luoyang city, originally built during the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was constructed to commemorate the White Horse carrying scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to central China. It is honored as the "First Ancient Temple in China" and is the first government-established temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Within the temple, Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Heavenly King Hall are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously among red walls and cypress trees for over 2,000 years. It is worth mentioning that the temple also has foreign-style Buddhist halls donated by Myanmar, Thailand, India, and other countries, showcasing the unique scenery of the eastward transmission and return flow of Buddhist culture. My understanding is to first see the main hall along the central axis, then go around to Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the exotic Buddhist halls on both sides to experience cultural integration. Visiting in the early morning when there are fewer people, with morning light shining on the red walls and ancient cypresses, is the most poetic and also avoids peak tour group times.

Warm Tips: The temple has many stone steps and thresholds, so do not step on the thresholds. When paying respects, queue in order and do not shove. Visitors generally find that the foreign-style Buddhist halls (Thai/Myan/Indian courtyards) are very photogenic and appear more spacious than expected. Note that the international temple area requires a fair amount of walking. Depending on your situation, for authentic food, go deeper into the alleys, as the lines at the main entrance are long and the taste is just average. For local specialties, ask for the price first and compare; local supermarkets are often more authentic.

Day 3: Sui-Tang Luoyang City

Assemble in the morning and depart for Sui-Tang Luoyang City, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy local specialty dishes at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Sui-Tang Luoyang City attractions. The Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park centers on Ying Tian Gate, Ming Tang, and Tian Tang, recreating the palace atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty's "Divine Capital" Luoyang. Ying Tian Gate is the south gate of Sui-Tang Luoyang City, grand in scale, and from the top you can overlook the central axis. At night, there is a stunning light show; Ming Tang was the "Palace of Myriad Phenomena" during Wu Zetian's period, while Tian Tang is a tall tower for Buddhist rituals. The interiors of both buildings recreate the magnificent furnishings of a Tang Dynasty palace. Walking along Jiuzhou Pool is also pleasant, evoking the grandeur of the royal gardens. This place is closely associated with TV dramas such as "Wu Zetian" and "The Wind Rises in Luoyang", and has become one of the most popular Tang culture landmarks in Luoyang in recent years. My understanding is that a night visit is a must — the lights of Ying Tian Gate and Ming Tang Tian Tang are what the "Divine Capital" should truly look like at dusk; you see the palace interiors during the day and the light show at night, experiencing two different attractions in one day.

Tips: Night tours of the ancient capital are diverse, so dress warmly at night and remember the meeting points. Visitors generally feedback that most of them consider Sui-Tang Luoyang City worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's commentary, and leave time for the details that impress you most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, manage your energy; tackle the main attractions in the morning when you are fresh and slow down in the afternoon. Don’t exhaust yourself on the first day, or you will have no energy for the following days.
