Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Gather in the morning and depart for Wangcheng Park. Follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for photos and rest; enjoy local specialty dishes at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang and is named for being situated on the ruins of the Eastern Zhou royal city. It is one of the main venues for China's Luoyang Peony Culture Festival over the years and is also the city park most familiar to Luoyang residents. Every April, famous peony varieties such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in competition, creating a spectacular and colorful scene. The park also preserves the ruins of the Zhou royal city and features a zoo, combining historical depth with leisure functions. It is a classic spot for tourists to visit the 'Peony Flower City.' In my understanding, if visiting during peony season (April), this place should definitely be on your must-visit list. Early morning is less crowded, and the peonies are most beautiful with dewdrops; outside the flower season, it is more suitable for a leisurely stroll.

Tips: Popular attractions in the park have long queues. Upon entering, first get a map and performance schedule, and prioritize the must-see attractions. Visitors generally feedback that most consider Wangcheng Park worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide, listen to the explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Considering actual conditions, the biggest risk of group tours is rushing through without appreciating, the explanation is the essence, as the cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than the photos. Ask the guide on the spot if something is unclear.

Day 2: Erlitou

Gather in the morning and depart for Erlitou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Erlitou. The Erlitou site is located in Yanshi, Luoyang, and is acclaimed by scholars as 'the earliest China.' It is a large urban site from the mid-to-late Xia Dynasty, and artifacts such as turquoise dragon-shaped objects, bronze jue, and bronze ding have been unearthed, revealing the appearance of the first capital of the Hua Xia civilization. The turquoise dragon-shaped object is inlaid with more than two thousand pieces of turquoise and is praised as 'the first dragon of Hua Xia,' serving as an important evidence of dragon worship in China. The Erlitou Site Museum presents the site with an archaeological sense, and it is an indispensable stop for researching the origins of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that visiting the exhibits after first learning about the academic controversies surrounding the 'Xia capital' will deepen your comprehension; the museum's display is carefully curated and worth examining slowly.

Tips: There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in the mountains, and the wind is strong at the peak, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are essential. Visitors generally feedback that most think Erlitou is worth a special trip; it is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. According to your actual situation, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; the queues at the main gate of the scenic area are long and the taste is average. For souvenirs, ask for prices first and compare; local supermarkets usually offer more authentic goods.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Gather in the morning and set off for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Chongdugou attractions. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan and is known for thousands of acres of bamboo forests, waterfalls and streams, and the farming scenery of western Henan. It is a rare 'Jiangnan water town'-style summer resort in Henan. The scenic area is divided into two sections, Jinji River and Dicu River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing water and a refreshing atmosphere; Dicu River features continuous bamboo forests, ideal for strolling and enjoying the green scenery. Here, you can stay in a farmhouse, taste wild vegetables, and experience the authentic life of western Henan mountain villages. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for family slow travel and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down your pace and not rush through the attractions—walking in the bamboo forest and sitting by the stream is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou; summer visits are the most comfortable, cool enough that you won’t want to leave.

Warm Tips: Signal may be poor within the canyon, so agree on a meeting point with the tour guide in advance and avoid going alone. Visitors generally feedback that most consider Chongdugou worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the tour guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Based on actual conditions, manage your energy reserves: enjoy the highlights while you are fresh in the morning and slow down in the afternoon; don’t exhaust yourself on the first day, or you’ll have no energy for the following days.
