Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Assemble in the morning and depart for Wangcheng Park, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang. It is named because it is situated on the ruins of the Eastern Zhou Royal City and has been one of the main venues for the annual Chinese Luoyang Peony Culture Festival. It is also the city park most familiar to the citizens of Luoyang. Every April, famous peonies such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in competition, displaying a brilliant and spectacular scene. The park also preserves the ruins of the Zhou King City and a zoo, combining historical heritage with leisure functions, making it a classic spot for tourists to experience the "Peony Flower City." In my opinion, if visiting during peony season (April), this place should definitely be on your must-visit list. Early in the morning, the crowds are smaller, and the peonies are most beautiful with dew; outside the blooming season, it is more suitable for a leisurely walk.

Tips: Popular rides in the park often have long queues, so collect a map and performance schedule upon entry, and prioritize must-try attractions. Tourists generally agree that most visitors believe Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip; it is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. In practical terms, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; queues at the main entrance tend to be long, and the taste is average. For local specialties, compare prices after inquiring, as local supermarkets are often more reliable.

Day 2: White Horse Temple

Gather in the morning and depart for White Horse Temple. Follow the guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy local specialty dishes for lunch, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the trip is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the eastern part of Luoyang City. It was originally built during the Yongping era of the Eastern Han Dynasty to commemorate the White Horse carrying scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is honored as the 'First Ancient Temple in China' and is the first state-established temple after Buddhism was introduced to China. Inside the temple, Qi Yun Tower Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Hall of Heavenly Kings are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously for over two thousand years among the red walls and green cypresses. Notably, the temple also features foreign-style halls donated by Myanmar, Thailand, India, and other countries, showcasing the unique landscape of the eastward spread and return flow of Buddhist culture. My understanding is to first visit the main hall along the central axis, then circle around to Qi Yun Tower Courtyard, and finally go to the foreign-style halls on both sides to experience cultural integration; visiting in the early morning when there are fewer people, with morning light falling on the red walls and ancient cypresses, is the most poetic and also allows you to avoid the peak of tour groups.

Tips: The temple has many stone steps and door thresholds. Do not step directly over thresholds. When worshiping, follow the order and do not push. Visitors generally note that foreign-style halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian halls) are highly photogenic and surprisingly spacious. Note that the international temple area requires a long walk, so save some energy. Allocate your strength wisely: tackle major attractions when you are fresh in the morning and slow down in the afternoon, so you won’t exhaust yourself on the first day and lack energy for the days ahead.

Day 3: Laojun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain, following the guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; at noon, enjoy local specialty dishes, and in the evening, check into the hotel to recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today’s itinerary includes Laojun Mountain attractions. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang Luanchuan County, and it is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains as well as a famous Taoist mountain, traditionally considered the place where the Taoist founder Laozi retired for cultivation. The Golden Summit Taoist temple complex stands atop a peak over two thousand meters above sea level, with golden-tiled temples, red walls, and surging sea of clouds, earning the reputation of "a stunning feast of appearances in the human world." Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the highlight of the whole trip; a high-altitude walkway suspended on a cliff offers changing views with each step, encompassing the peak forest, sea of clouds, and sunrise. You can ascend the mountain by a two-stage cableway; on clear days you can view the sea of clouds at sunrise, while in winter it is a very popular place in the Central Plains to enjoy the snow. My understanding is that it is essential to take the cableway early to secure the best light at the Golden Summit and Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the top of the mountain is windy and cold, so a windbreaker and thermos are a must, and if you are afraid of heights, don’t force yourself onto the glass observation deck.

Warm tips: Many mountain paths are slippery, especially the downhill sections — be sure to shift your center of gravity back, slow down your pace, and consider bringing knee pads. Tourists widely agree that the Golden Summit, sea of clouds, and sunrise are the main highlights, and many stay at the mountaintop to catch the dawn; please note that the mountain top has large temperature differences and cableways may have long queues, so during peak seasons it is crucial to start early. Respect local customs; when entering religious sites, dress appropriately, avoid pointing randomly, and a simple greeting can be met with kindness.
