Day 1: Wanxian Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Wanxian Mountain, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for photos and rest; enjoy the local specialty cuisine at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Scenic Spot Introduction: This stop is Wanxian Mountain. The Wanxian Mountain scenic area is located deep in the Taihang Mountains of Huixian, encompassing Guoliang Hanging Road and Nanping Danfen Gorge. Red cliffs and cascading waterfalls intertwine, making it one of the most representative mountain and water galleries in the Taihang Mountains. It is famous for being featured in multiple films and TV shows. Attractions such as Guoliang Village, Tianchi, and the watchtowers form an impressive Taihang hiking route. The average summer temperature is pleasant, and it is a place to experience Taihang landscapes within a short distance from Zhengzhou and Luoyang. In my understanding, the hike involves a lot of walking and many steps, so it is essential to wear non-slip shoes; pay attention to oncoming vehicles on the hanging road section, and the red cliffs are most photogenic in the morning and evening light.

Warm Tips: The mountain paths have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with limited mobility are advised to take the cable car up and down. Visitors generally report that the hanging road (Guoliang Tunnel) is the most breathtaking and photogenic, though mountain roads often cause motion sickness; it is recommended to bring motion sickness medicine and walk slowly while enjoying the viewpoints. Considering the actual situation, long trips are prone to dehydration, so carry a water bottle and sip small amounts frequently; on the first night at high altitudes or mountain areas, avoid washing your hair or showering for too long to give your body time to adjust.

Day 2: Yuntai Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Yuntai Mountain, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for taking photos and resting; enjoy local specialty cuisine at noon, check in to the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yuntai Mountain attractions. Yuntai Mountain is located in Jiaozuo Xiuwu and is one of the first world geoparks, famous for the red cliffs and emerald waters of Hongshi Gorge, the waterfalls and streams of Tanpu Gorge, the 'highest waterfall in Asia,' Yuntai Tian Waterfall in Quanpu Gorge, and the sea of clouds at sunrise on Zhuyu Peak. It is the most representative landscape on the southern slope of the Taihang Mountains. Hongshi Gorge is the essence of the essence, a two-kilometer-long red quartz sandstone canyon, with winding emerald waters at the bottom and crimson cliffs like clouds; Zhuyu Peak is famous because of the Tang poet Wang Wei's line 'Plant a calamus everywhere, one person less,' and you can get a panoramic view of the Taihang peaks by taking the cable car to the top. Shuttle buses connect various points in the scenic area, and the trails are gentle, suitable for family outings. My understanding is that one day is not enough to cover everything, so focus on Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley first, and be sure to allow plenty of time for queues for the shuttle bus; in summer it's cool to touch the water, and in autumn the forest is dyed with colors, each season has its charm.

Tips: The temperature difference is large in the mountains in the morning and evening, and the wind is strong at the top, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Visitors generally report that Hongshi Gorge is considered the most photo-worthy section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth seeing; note that the queue for the shuttle bus is long, so if you cannot do everything in one day, prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Based on the actual situation, be punctual, arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings, and it's better for people to wait for the vehicle than the vehicle to wait for people—don't make everyone wait for you.

Day 3: Guoliang Village

Gather in the morning and set off for Guoliang Village, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Guoliang Village attractions. Guoliang Village is hidden on the cliffs deep in the Taihang Mountains and is famous for its 'Cliff-Hanging Road'—in the 1970s, villagers spent more than five years chiseling a tunnel about 1,300 meters long into the sheer cliff without any large machinery, creating a marvel known as the 'Modern Yu Gong.' Today, this cliff-hanging road is the ultimate hardcore spot in the Taihang Mountains, offering views of dizzying chasms and mountain villages along the way. Guoliang Village is also known as the 'Chinese Film and TV Village' due to many movies and TV shows being filmed here. My advice is to allow enough time when walking on the cliff-hanging road, watch and take photos carefully, and pay attention to your steps and passing vehicles; early morning or late afternoon light is best, while noon light can be flat. Wear non-slip shoes and don’t get too close to the cliff edge.

Tips: The ancient town offers a dazzling array of local specialties—taste first, compare products among vendors, and spend rationally. Tourists generally find that the cliff village is connected to the cliff-hanging road, and the filming locations have a story-like atmosphere; note that village food and lodging are simple, so lower your expectations to enjoy it more. Depending on the situation, don’t just focus on photos—watch your step and surroundings. Always hold steady at viewing platforms and along the edges of walkways.

Day 4: Taihang Grand Canyon

Assemble in the morning and depart for Taihang Grand Canyon. Follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest. At noon, enjoy the local specialty meal, and in the evening, check into the hotel to recharge for the following day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Taihang Grand Canyon, which spans the border region of Shanxi, Hebei, and Henan. Red Flag Canal runs through the mountains. Taohuagu (Peach Blossom Valley), Wang Xiang Rock, and Taihang Sky Road connect ruggedness with beauty, showcasing the scenery of the Taihang Mountains. Taohuagu is famous for its waterfalls and streams, Wang Xiang Rock is known for its cliffside walkways, and Taihang Sky Road allows you to take sightseeing buses to view the entire canyon panorama. Spring features blooming flowers, autumn showcases colorful forests, and each season has its highlights. In my understanding, the scenic area is large and attractions are scattered, so it is essential to plan your route and prioritize the main attractions. Hold onto railings in steep sections of the walkways, and those afraid of heights should proceed according to their ability.

Warm tips: The water-access areas of the canyon are slippery, so be sure to wear anti-slip creek shoes or sneakers, and protect valuables like phones from water. Visitors generally report that Taohuagu has serene water scenery, and Taihang Sky Road is steep and thrilling, with scenic views at every step. Be reminded to take the sightseeing bus, as the weather greatly affects the experience. Based on actual conditions, take photos early in the morning or late in the evening—there are fewer people and soft light in the early morning, golden light at dusk is most photogenic, while midday light can be harsh and crowded, so using this time to rest is more worthwhile.
