Day 1: Laojun Mountain

Assemble in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain, following the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for taking photos and relaxing; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Laojun Mountain attractions. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang, Luanchuan County. It is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains and a famous Taoist mountain, reputed to be the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retired to cultivate himself. The Golden Summit Daoist temple complex stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level. With its golden tiles and red walls amidst surging clouds, it is renowned as "a breathtaking feast on Earth, a glimpse of the world's grandeur." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the highlight of the trip, a high-altitude walkway suspended on a cliff offering ever-changing views, capturing forests of peaks, sea of clouds, and sunrises. Visitors can ascend via a two-stage cable car. On clear days, the summit provides a view of the sunrise over the sea of clouds; in winter, it is a highly popular spot for snow viewing in Central China. My advice is to get to the cable car early to catch the best light at the Golden Summit and the Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the summit is windy and cold, so a windproof jacket and thermos are essential, and those afraid of heights should avoid the glass viewing platform.

Tips: The mountains have large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the summit is windy, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Visitors generally agree that the Golden Summit sea of clouds and sunrise are the main highlights, with many staying on the summit overnight to catch dawn. Keep in mind the large temperature difference at the summit and long cable car queues; during peak season, try to go early. Depending on physical conditions, pace yourself—tackle the main attractions in the morning when you are energetic and slow down in the afternoon. Don’t exhaust yourself on the first day, or you will have no energy for the following days.

Day 2: Baiyun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Baiyun Mountain, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, and allow plenty of time for photography and rest; at noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening, check into the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Baiyun Mountain attractions. Baiyun Mountain is located in the heart of Funiu Mountain in Song County. From Yuhuang Peak, you can view the sea of clouds at sunrise. With a high forest coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions, it is a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic area, Jiulong Waterfall and the Alpine Peony Garden each have unique features. It is a rare high-altitude resort area for summer cooling and autumn leaf viewing. Cable cars or scenic shuttle buses can connect the various points. The mountaintop has wide views, shrouded in mist, resembling a fairyland. In my understanding, visiting in summer for cooling is most worthwhile, as the mountain’s coolness sharply contrasts with the city’s heat; getting up early to climb Yuhuang Peak to watch the sea of clouds at sunrise requires some luck, but even if the sunrise isn’t visible, the morning mist over the mountains is beautiful enough.

Friendly tips: Many mountain roads are slippery, especially downhill—pay attention to shifting your weight back and slowing your steps, and consider bringing a pair of knee pads. Visitors generally give positive feedback; most think that Baiyun Mountain is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best spots for photos. In practice, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious sites, and avoid pointing around casually; a simple greeting can bring goodwill.

Day 3: Return Trip

Gather in the morning and depart for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; at noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening, check in to the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Friendly reminder: On the return day, please pack your luggage the night before, and keep your ID card, power bank, and souvenirs in a place that is easy to reach, carrying valuables with you. Tourists generally report that it is easiest to forget things on the return day, and many remind to put your documents, power bank, and souvenirs together in one bag the night before, leaving ample time to get to the station/airport. Based on the actual situation, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; the queues at the main entrance of scenic spots are long and the taste is average. For specialties, ask for the price first and compare; local supermarkets are often more authentic.
