Day 1: Longmen Grottoes

Gather in the morning and depart for Longmen Grottoes, follow the guide to visit core attractions, and allow ample time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Longmen Grottoes attractions, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang dynasties. Currently, there are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and kind-looking eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after the likeness of Empress Wu Zetian and represents the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is known as one of China's three great grottoes and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: Grottoes are mostly built on cliffs. When sightseeing, keep your distance from the cliff walls, hold onto the railings, and take care of the elderly and children. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the best light at sunset on the Western Hills; If you need to retrace your steps along both banks of the Yi River, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and allow half a day. Based on actual conditions, dehydration is the worst on long trips; carry a water bottle and drink water in small amounts frequently; On the first night in plateau or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or bathing too long, allowing your body some time to adjust.

Day 2: Wangcheng Park

Gather in the morning and depart for Wangcheng Park, follow the guide to visit key attractions, and allow enough time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening to recharge and prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located on Luoyang, named for its location atop the ruins of the Eastern Zhou royal city. It has been one of the main venues for the China Luoyang Peony Culture Festival and is the most familiar city park to Luoyang residents. Every April, famous peonies such as Yao Huang, Wei Purple, and Zhao Pink bloom in a dazzling display of vibrant colors; The park also preserves the ruins of Zhou King's City and a zoo, combining historical heritage with leisure functions, making it a classic spot for visitors to check in at the "Peony Flower City." My understanding is that if you visit during peony season (April), you must make this a must-visit spot. Early mornings with fewer people and peonies with dew are most vibrant; Outside the flowering season, it's more suitable for leisurely walks.

Friendly reminder: Popular attractions have long queues. Get a map and performance schedule before entering to prioritize must-see attractions. Visitors generally report that Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanations, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera angles. Based on actual circumstances, be punctual. Gather five to ten minutes early. Better to wait for the bus than for the car—don't make everyone wait for you.

Day 3: Return

Gather in the morning and depart for Longtan Grand Canyon, follow the guide to visit key attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Friendly reminder: On your return day, be sure to check your flight or train schedule, leave early, and check your room again before checking out for any missing items. Travelers generally report that most buy souvenirs in advance on their return trip. It's recommended to buy them from official stores and keep your receipt to avoid panicking before departure. Depending on the situation, shoot early or late—when there are fewer people in the morning, the light is softest; at dusk, golden light is best. At noon, the top light is cramped and flat, so it's more cost-effective to rest.
