Day 1: Sui-Tang Luoyang City

Gather in the morning and depart for Sui-Tang Luoyang City, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for taking photos and resting; enjoy local specialty cuisine at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today’s itinerary includes Sui-Tang Luoyang City attractions. The Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park centers on Yingtian Gate, Mingtang, and Tiantang, and restores the palace grandeur of the prosperous Tang Dynasty “Divine Capital” Luoyang. Yingtian Gate is the south gate of Sui-Tang Luoyang City, grand in scale; from the tower, you can overlook the central axis, and there is a spectacular light show at night. Mingtang was the “Palace of Myriad Phenomena” during Wu Zetian’s era, while Tiantang is a tall tower for Buddhist rituals. The interiors of both buildings recreate the magnificent furnishings of a Tang Dynasty palace. Walking along Jiuzhou Pool is also pleasant, evoking the grandeur of the royal garden. This place is closely associated with TV dramas such as "Wu Zetian" and "The Wind Rises in Luoyang", and has become one of the most popular Tang culture landmarks in Luoyang in recent years. My understanding is that a night visit is a must — the lights of Yingtian Gate and Mingtang Tiantang at dusk are how the “Divine Capital” should look; see the palace interiors during the day and enjoy the light show at night for two different experiences in one day.

Tips: There are many night tour activities in the ancient capital. Pay attention to keeping warm when going out at night and remember the meeting points. Visitors generally report that most consider Sui-Tang Luoyang City worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanation, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, be punctual; arrive at the meeting point five to ten minutes early — better for people to wait for the vehicle than for the vehicle to wait for people. Don’t make everyone wait for you.

Day 2: Longmen Grottoes

Gather in the morning and depart for Longmen Grottoes, follow the guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and rest well to prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Longmen Grottoes attractions. Longmen Grottoes was carved on the cliffs along both banks of the Yi River in the south of Luoyang city. Construction continued since Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, spanning multiple dynasties including Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang. Currently, there are more than 2,300 niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions. The most striking is the Vairocana Buddha of Fengxian Temple, over seventeen meters tall, with a full face and eyes filled with compassion, said to be carved in the likeness of Empress Wu Zetian, representing the pinnacle of Tang Dynasty stone carving art. Together with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is considered one of China's three major grottoes and a World Cultural Heritage site. When visiting, walk south along the Yi River trail from the West Mountain Grottoes; there are highlights at Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddhas Cave, and Lotus Cave. Cross to the East Mountain Buddha Terrace for a panoramic view. My suggestion is to see the main caves of the West Mountain in the morning to enjoy the Buddha with fewer people, and visit the East Mountain platform in the afternoon for distant viewpoints, as the lighting and angles are best for photos; walking along both banks of the Yi River involves retracing steps, so a comfortable pair of shoes can save a lot of effort.

Tips: Visiting the grottoes primarily involves walking and stairs, so it is recommended to wear non-slip comfortable shoes and travel light. Pay attention to your footing along the Yi River banks. Most visitors report that the Vairocana Buddha is the most impressive, and sunsets at the West Mountain have the best photo lighting; walking along both banks of the Yi River requires retracing steps, so wear comfortable shoes and reserve half a day. Based on the situation, when taking photos, don't just focus on the shot; pay attention to your footing and surrounding environment, and hold steady on viewing platforms and trail edges.

Day 3: Return Trip

Gather in the morning and depart for Chongdugou, follow the guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; at noon, enjoy the local specialty cuisine, and in the evening, check into the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Friendly reminder: On the day of return, be sure to check the flight or train times, depart early to allow extra time, and double-check the room for any belongings before checking out. Tourists generally report that most people buy some souvenirs before returning, so it is recommended to purchase them from reputable stores and keep the receipts to avoid last-minute stress. Based on actual conditions, the biggest concern on long trips is dehydration, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on the first night in high-altitude or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or taking long showers to give your body some time to adjust.
