Day 1: Mount Song

Set off early from the hotel and head straight to Mount Song. First, listen to the tour guide’s explanation of the background and highlights, then enjoy a leisurely walk and take additional photos according to your interests; after lunch, take a short rest, and return to the hotel in the evening to conserve energy for the next day.

Scenic Spot Introduction: A major highlight of the itinerary is Mount Song. Mount Song is the central peak among the Five Great Mountains, mainly located in Dengfeng City, divided into the Taishi and Shaoshi mountains, with the main peak, Junji Peak, reaching about 1492 meters. Its uniqueness lies in the coexistence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism on the same mountain for a thousand years: Songyang Academy was a significant center of Neo-Confucianism during the Song dynasty, and the famous story of 'Standing in the Snow at Cheng’s Gate' is said to have happened here; the Zhongyue Temple is one of the largest and best-preserved temple complexes among the Five Great Mountains; the Guoxing Platform in Gaocheng Town, built under the supervision of Guo Shoujing during the Yuan dynasty, is one of the oldest existing astronomical observation structures. In 2010, the historical building complex of "Center of Heaven and Earth," represented by Songyang Academy, Zhongyue Temple, Songyue Temple Pagoda, Shaolin Temple Permanent Residence, Pagoda Forest, Chuzu Ancestral Hall, and Guoxing Platform, was listed as a World Heritage Site. My understanding is that there’s no need to rush on the first day—start with the academy and Zhongyue Temple to understand the ritual system of "Center of Heaven and Earth" and save your energy for the mountain climb later; if there’s extra time, going to the plank road at Sanhuang Fort on Shaoshi Mountain at sunset is the most photogenic part of the entire trip.

Tips: Many mountain paths are slippery; pay special attention to shifting your weight backward and slowing down when going downhill, and consider bringing knee pads. Tourists generally feel that most visitors think Mount Song is worth a special visit, so it’s recommended to slow down, listen to the guide’s interpretation, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, the worst thing in a guided tour is rushing through; listening to explanations is the essence, as the cultural stories behind each scenic spot are often more memorable than photos. Don’t hesitate to ask the guide if you don’t understand something on the spot.

Day 2: Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden

Today's time-travel journey: Follow the guide to understand 'The Splendors of Tokyo,' focusing on the live water performances and folk parades; return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is [0]. [0] is located in [1] and is a Song Dynasty cultural theme park built based on Zhang Zeduan's 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' from the Northern Song Dynasty. It recreates the Rainbow Bridge, Bian River, streets, and taverns from the painting, bringing to life the prosperous city of Bianliang in Tokyo. The park offers live performances and folk parades throughout the day. The most famous is the night-time water show 'Great Song: The Splendors of Tokyo,' which uses lights and effects to recreate the magnificence of the Northern Song capital. During the day, visitors can watch immersive folk performances such as the park opening ceremony, Bao Gong welcoming guests, and Mr. Wang’s matchmaking. This is also a paradise for Hanfu enthusiasts; wearing a Song-style Hanfu while walking along the Rainbow Bridge and Bian River makes every photo look like a classical scene. My understanding is that upon entering, first get the performance schedule, plan the must-see shows and the night performance, and then wander and eat freely; exploring the streets during the day is highly immersive, while the night performance is a visual and auditory feast—worth watching if the budget allows.

Tips: Popular attractions in the park may have long queues, so get a map and performance schedule upon entry, and prioritize must-play activities. Visitors generally feel that exploring the streets during the day is most immersive, while opinions on the night show 'Great Song: The Splendors of Tokyo' are mixed; note that performance tickets are relatively expensive, so choose according to your budget. To find authentic food, head deeper into the alleys—the lines at the main entrance are long and the taste is average; for local specialties, ask for the price first and compare, as local supermarkets often provide more authentic products.

Day 3: Only Henan

Full-day immersion in "Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City," watching multiple plays consecutively according to the performance schedule, interpreting the suffering and harvest of Central China through imagery of wheat fields; have lunch in the park at noon, and return after watching the main performance at night.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Only Henan. Located in Zhongmu, Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City is a giant theatrical settlement built with rammed earth. Through more than twenty theaters and nearly a hundred performances, it presents the suffering, harvest, and resilience of Central Plains civilization. Main theaters' performances such as "Fantasy City," "Train Station," and "Li Family Village" are highly acclaimed, while the small theaters each have their own unique ideas, with wheat field imagery running throughout. It is a phenomenal showcase of Henan's cultural tourism. This is not a traditional attraction, but an immersive cultural experience. My understanding is that one should reserve a full day, schedule the main performances first, and then fit in the small theaters; book tickets in advance through official channels and check the performance timetable carefully, as popular shows often sell out.

Tips: The canyon trail runs along water and cliffs, so do not climb over the railings or play in dangerous areas, and keep an eye on children. Visitors generally comment that Drama Fantasy City’s immersive experience is popular among young people but is expensive and time-consuming; it is recommended to choose the core theaters and reserve at least half a day. Depending on your condition, manage your energy: tackle the major performances in the morning when you are fresh and slow the pace in the afternoon, so as not to exhaust yourself on the first day and lose energy for the following days.
