Day 1: Yuntai Mountain

Today's water-friendly journey connects Hongshi Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, and Quanpu Gorge along the trail, with a gentle pace suitable for the whole family; in the afternoon there is free time for additional photography, and in the evening time to rest.

Attractions Introduction: There are Yuntai Mountain attractions in today's itinerary. Yuntai Mountain is located in Jiaozuo Xiuwu and is one of the first World Geoparks. It is famous for the red cliffs and clear waters of Hongshi Gorge, the waterfalls and flowing springs of Tanpu Gorge, the 'tallest waterfall in Asia' Yuntai Heaven Waterfall in Quanpu Gorge, and the sea of clouds and sunrise at Zhuyu Peak. It is the most representative scenic spot of mountains and rivers on the southern slope of the Taihang Mountains. Hongshi Gorge is the essence of the essence, a red quartz sandstone canyon about two kilometers long, with winding emerald waters at the valley bottom and bright red cliff walls; Zhuyu Peak is famous because of the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei's verse 'Everywhere inserted zhuyu, yet one person is missing.' Taking the cable car to the top allows a view over the Taihang peaks. Shuttle buses in the scenic area connect various points, and the trails are gentle, suitable for family trips. My understanding is that one day is not enough to see everything, so first focus on the two cores: Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Be prepared for long queues for the shuttle bus; in summer it is cool and water-friendly, while in autumn the forests are colorful, each season having its own charm.

Tips: There is a large temperature difference in the mountains between morning and evening, and strong winds at the top, so a windproof jacket and warm layer are necessary. Visitors commonly report that Hongshi Gorge is considered the most photogenic section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth seeing. Be reminded that queues for shuttle buses are long, so if you cannot finish in one day, prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Practically speaking, keep ID and wallet separate, photograph important documents and store backups on your phone; in case of loss, they can be quickly replaced without delaying the trip.

Day 2: Taihang Grand Canyon

Gather in the morning and set off for Taihang Grand Canyon. Follow the guide along the main route, visiting all the key spots and leaving plenty of time for photos and rest. At noon, enjoy a local specialty meal, and in the afternoon continue exploring. In the evening, check into the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Taihang Grand Canyon. Taihang Grand Canyon stretches across the junction of Shanxi, Hebei, and Henan provinces, Red Flag Canal passes through the mountains, and Peach Blossom Valley, Wangxiang Cliff, and Taihang Sky Road connect a sense of grandeur with beauty, serving as a concentrated display of Taihang scenery. Peach Blossom Valley is known for its waterfalls and flowing streams, Wangxiang Cliff is famous for its cliffside walkways, and Taihang Sky Road allows visitors to take a scenic bus tour to view the entire canyon. In spring, the mountains are full of blooming flowers; in autumn, the forests are rich with colors, offering highlights in every season. My understanding is that the scenic area is large and the attractions are spread out, so it's essential to plan the route well and prioritize the main spots; hold onto railings in steep sections, and those who are afraid of heights should proceed according to their comfort level.

Tips: Signal may be weak in the canyon, so agree on a meeting point with the guide in advance and do not wander off alone. Visitors generally report that Peach Blossom Valley’s water scenery is tranquil and Taihang Sky Road is steep, with a new scene at every step. Remember to take the scenic bus, as weather can greatly affect the experience. Based on practical considerations, bring some coins and small packaged snacks with you, which can be useful when the signal is poor or for temporary refreshments—don’t wait until you’re hungry to look for them.

Day 3: Yin Ruins

Arrive at Yin Ruins early in the morning, first visit the palace area and the chariot and horse pits, then the royal tomb area, and follow the guide to understand the beginning of recorded history; in the afternoon visit the new museum, and return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yin Ruins attractions. Yin Ruins is the site of the late Shang Dynasty capital, located in Anyang. It is the birthplace of oracle bone script and the discovery site of the Houmuwu Ding (formerly known as Simuwu Ding). In 2006, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. This was once the capital after King Pan Geng moved the Shang dynasty to Yin, lasting more than 270 years. The palace and ancestral temple ruins, royal tombs, chariot and horse pits, and other remains are clearly visible. Oracle bones were first discovered here, pushing China's recorded history back to the Shang Dynasty. The new museum of Yin Ruins systematically displays bronzes, jade, and oracle bones, providing the most direct way to understand Shang civilization. My understanding is that first visiting the palace and ancestral temple ruins and the chariot and horse pits helps establish a spatial concept. Then entering the museum to carefully examine the artifacts links the two lines to make the experience complete; oracle bones and large bronze artifacts are the highlights, and following the guide is far better than just walking through quickly.

Tips: The mountain climbing sections have many steps and steep slopes, so wearing slip-resistant sports shoes is essential. Those with difficulty walking are advised to use the cable car up and down. Visitors generally feel that oracle bones and the Houmuwu Ding make history 'come alive,' and they say the new museum is more worthwhile than the open-air ruins; it is advisable to view exhibits along with the guide to fully understand them. Considering actual conditions, mountain weather can change suddenly, so a windproof jacket is more practical than anything else; choose slip-resistant comfortable shoes, and it's better to take fewer photos than risk twisting your ankle.
