Jiaozuo 4-Day Tour: Scenic Area & Guoliang Village
Jiaozuo 4-day tour covering Scenic Area and Guoliang Village and Yuntai Mountain. Sightseeing tickets and shuttle bus included.
Highlights
Day 1: Jiaozuo
Today's Guoliang Village Taihang trip focuses on the Hanging Wall Road and Film Village, then offers distant views of the canyon village; Afternoon reshoots, evening rest.
Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Jiaozuo attractions, Jiaozuo and the Yuntai Mountain Global Geopark, Red Stone Gorge's red cliffs and clear waters, pools and waterfalls and flowing springs, and Zhuyu Peak's sea of clouds and sunrises—the ultimate collection of the essence of Taihang mountains and waters. My understanding is that hiking should be done within your means. Cable cars should be saved if possible, but those with knee problems shouldn't force themselves to hik—the scenery is not about forcing yourself.
Friendly reminder: The mountain area has large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the wind at the summit is strong. A windproof jacket and warm inner layer are very necessary. Visitors generally report that Jiaozuo is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanation, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera angles. Based on actual conditions, don't just focus on taking photos; pay attention to your footing and surroundings. Be sure to stand firmly on the viewing platform and the edges of the boardwalk.
Day 2: Guoliang Village
Enter Yuntai Mountain in the morning, take the scenic shuttle and bus to first visit Hongshi Gorge and Danxia, then walk through Tanpu Gorge and overlapping waters; Have a light lunch at the scenic area at noon, climb Zhuyu Peak or stroll through Quanpu Gorge in the afternoon, and return to the hotel in the evening.
Attraction introduction: One of the highlights of the itinerary is Guoliang Village. Guoliang Village is hidden deep within the sheer cliffs of the Taihang Mountains and is famous worldwide for its 'Cliff-Hanging Road.' In the 1970s, villagers worked to open a passage with the outside world, and without any large machinery, spent over five years carving a tunnel about 1,300 meters long on the cliff face—a miracle known as the 'Modern Foolish Old Man.' Today, this cliff-hanging road is the most must-see spot in the Taihang Mountains, offering views of the deep abyss and canyon villages along the way. Guoliang Village It's also known as the 'Chinese Film Village' because many TV dramas have filmed here. My understanding is that when walking the Cliff-Hanging Road, you should allow plenty of time to watch and take photos while watching and paying attention to your steps and passing vehicles; Early morning or evening is best for lighting; midday is rather plain. Wear non-slip shoes and avoid getting too close to the cliff.
Friendly reminder: The ancient town is full of local specialties. Try before buying, compare shops, and shop rationally. Visitors generally report that the cliff-top stone village is connected to the Hanging Wall Highway, making it a filming location with a unique story. Reminder: Village food and accommodation are simple, so lower expectations and enjoy more. Based on actual conditions, shoot early or late—the morning is soft and the light is soft, the dusk golden glow is best for photos, and the noon peak light is cramped and flat, so it's more cost-effective to rest.
Day 3: Yuntai Mountain
Depart from the hotel early in the morning and head straight to Wanxian Mountain. First, listen to the guide explain the background and highlights, then enjoy a leisurely tour and take additional camera shots based on your interests. After lunch, take a short rest, then return to the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day.
Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yuntai Mountain attractions. Located in Jiaozuo Xiuwu, it is one of the first World Geoparks. It is famous for the red cliffs and clear waters of Hongshi Gorge, the flying waterfalls of Tanpu Gorge, the "Asia's tallest waterfall" Yuntai Sky Waterfall at Quanpu Gorge, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak, making it the most representative scenic landscape on the southern foothills of Taihang. Hongshi Gorge is the essence of highlights, with about two kilometers of red quartz sandstone canyon with winding green water at the valley floor and cliffs red like rosy clouds; Zhuyu Peak is famous for the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei's line "Planting cornelian cherry everywhere, but one person is short." Taking the cable car to the top offers a panoramic view of the Taihang peaks. Shuttle buses connect various points within the scenic area, and the trails are gentle, suitable for family outings. My understanding is that if you can't finish the trip in one day, first secure the two core areas: Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. If the line for scenic bus delivery is long, allow plenty of time; In summer, enjoy the water and cool scenery; in autumn, the forests are colorful—each has its own charm.
Friendly reminder: The hiking section has many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to take the cable car up and down. Visitors generally say that Hongshi Gorge is recognized as the most photogenic section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth it. Remind the long line for scenic delivery buses: if you can't finish walking in one day, prioritize Hongshi Gorge + Monkey Valley. Based on actual conditions, dehydration is the biggest concern on long trips; carry a water bottle and drink water in small amounts frequently; On the first night in plateau or mountainous areas, don't wash your hair or take too long to give your body some room to adjust.
Day 4: Return
Transfer to the departure terminal per your booked train or flight; keep travel documents and tickets in your carry-on.
