Day 1: Erlitou

Assemble in the morning and depart for Erlitou. Follow the guide to tour the main attractions, leaving ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Erlitou attractions. The Erlitou ruins are located in Luoyang Yanshi and are praised by the academic community as the 'earliest China.' They are a large city site from the middle to late Xia dynasty, with excavated artifacts including turquoise dragon-shaped objects, bronze jues, and bronze tripods, revealing the features of the first capital of the Huaxia civilization. The turquoise dragon-shaped object is made of over two thousand turquoise pieces and is hailed as the 'First Dragon of Huaxia,' serving as important evidence of dragon worship in China. The Erlitou Ruins Museum presents the archaeological site in a realistic way and is an unmissable stop for studying the origins of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that visiting first with knowledge of the academic debates about the 'Xia Capital,' then viewing the exhibits, provides a deeper understanding; the museum’s displays are meticulously organized and worth exploring slowly.

Tips: The mountain sections have many steps and steep slopes; be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to use the cable car. Visitors generally report that most believe Erlitou is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down your pace, listen to the guide’s commentary, and leave time to appreciate the details that move you most and the best spots for photos. According to the actual situation, respect local customs—dress appropriately when entering religious sites, do not point casually, and a simple greeting can be met with kindness.

Day 2: Jiguan Cave

Gather in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, and check in at the hotel in the evening to rest up for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes the Jiguan Cave attraction. Jiguan Cave is a karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside the cave, the stalactites take on various shapes. Stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers transform into splendid colors under the lights. The cave maintains a constant temperature all year round, warm in winter and cool in summer. Attractions inside the cave are dense, and as you move, the scenery changes; with the guide's explanation, you can understand the marvelous geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It complements Longtan Grand Canyon's one cave and one gorge, forming a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. My understanding is, when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide; the formation and naming of the stalactites are very interesting, and it's easy to miss the highlights on your own; the cave floor is wet and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: The temperature in the mountains varies greatly between morning and night, and the wind is strong at the top, so a windproof jacket and warm layers are necessary. Visitors generally report that most of them think Jiguan Cave is worth a special trip, and it is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide's explanation, leaving time for the details that impress you the most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, the biggest drawback of joining a tour is rushing through the attractions; listening to the explanation is the essence. The cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than photos, and don’t hesitate to ask the guide on the spot if something is unclear.

Day 3: Guoliang Village

Assemble in the morning and depart for Guoliang Village, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; at noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening, check into the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Guoliang Village. Guoliang Village is hidden on the cliffs deep in the Taihang Mountains and is famous for its 'cliff-hanging road.' In the 1970s, villagers, without any large machinery, spent over five years chiseling a tunnel about 1,300 meters long on the sheer cliff, known as a miracle of the 'modern-day Yu Gong.' Today, this cliff-hanging road is the most hardcore check-in spot in the Taihang Mountains, where walking along it offers views of the abyss and the canyon village below. Guoliang Village is also called the 'Chinese Film Village' because many TV series and films have been shot here. My suggestion is to allow plenty of time when walking the cliff-hanging road, watch and take photos carefully, pay attention to your feet and passing vehicles; the best lighting is in the early morning or evening, while noon is rather flat; wear non-slip shoes and stay away from the cliff edge.

Tips: The ancient town is full of various local specialties; taste before buying, compare prices, and consume rationally. Visitors generally feedback that the cliff-side stone village is connected to the cliff-hanging road, and the filming locations have their own storytelling atmosphere; note that village accommodations and meals are simple, so lower your expectations for a more enjoyable experience. Depending on actual situation, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys as queues at the main entrance are long and the taste can be mediocre; for local specialties, ask for prices before comparing, as local supermarkets often offer more genuine products.
