Day 1: Jiguan Cave

Morning tourJiguan Cave, visit the karst cave to see the varied stalactites; have a nearby lunch at noon, and in the afternoon you can visitLongtan Grand Canyon as well, one cave and one gorge complement each other, returning in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Jiguan Cave attraction, Jiguan Cave is the karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside the cave, the stalactites take on a variety of forms, with stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers transforming into a dazzling array of colors under the lights. The cave maintains a constant temperature year-round, warm in winter and cool in summer. The attractions inside the cave are dense, changing scenery with each step. With the guide’s explanation, you can understand the magnificent geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It and Longtan Grand Canyon, one cave and one gorge, complement each other and are a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. My understanding is that when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide. The formation and naming of the stalactites are very interesting, and it’s easy to miss highlights if you go alone; the cave floor is slippery and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in the mountains, and the wind is strong at the summit, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layers are necessary. Tourists generally feedback that most visitors think Jiguan Cave is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide, and leave time for the details that move you most and the photo spots. Considering the actual situation, the worst part of joining a tour is rushing through; listening to the explanation is the essence. The cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than photos, so ask the guide on the spot if something is unclear.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

Early in the morning, take the first of the two ropeways to reach the Golden Summit, checking in at the Taoist temple cluster and enjoying the sea of clouds and sunrise; in the afternoon, slowly descend along the Ten-Mile Painted Screen, with changing scenery at every step, and return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights of the itinerary is Laojun Mountain, located in Luoyang Luanchuan County, which is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains and a famous Taoist mountain, traditionally said to be the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retreated to cultivate. The Golden Summit temple cluster stands on a peak over two thousand meters above sea level, with golden temple roofs and red walls amidst the rolling sea of clouds, praised as 'a grand feast visiting the mortal world; a glimpse of the world's splendor.' The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the essence of the whole journey: a high-altitude plank road suspended along a cliff, with changing scenery at every step, offering views of the peak forest, sea of clouds, and sunrise. You can take two stages of ropeway up the mountain. On sunny days, reaching the summit allows you to enjoy the sea of clouds and sunrise; in winter, it is a very popular snow-viewing spot in Central China. My understanding is that you should catch the ropeway early to capture the best light at the Golden Summit and the Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the summit is windy and cold, so a windproof jacket and a thermos are essential. If you are afraid of heights, don’t force yourself on the glass observation deck.

Tips: The mountain paths are often slippery, especially when going downhill—keep your center of gravity back, slow your pace, and consider wearing knee pads. Visitors generally agree that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the Golden Summit are the main highlights, and many stay overnight on the mountain to catch the dawn; note that there is a large temperature difference at the summit and long queues for the ropeway, so it’s essential to start early during peak season. Based on the actual situation, for authentic food, go deep into the alleys; the queues at the main entrance of the scenic area are long and the food is average. When buying local specialties, compare prices first; local supermarkets often offer more genuine products.

Day 3: Wangcheng Park

Today, the theme is Wangcheng Park. Avoid peak crowds by entering the park during off-peak hours and follow the recommended route for an in-depth visit. Have a nearby lunch with local flavors at noon, enjoy free activities in the afternoon or join the guide for additional visits, and stay at a hotel in the evening to rest.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang. It is named because it is situated on the ruins of the Eastern Zhou Royal City and has been one of the main venues for the annual Chinese Luoyang Peony Culture Festival. It is also the city park most familiar to the citizens of Luoyang. Every April, famous peonies such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in the garden, creating a spectacular array of colors. The park also preserves the ruins of the Zhou Royal City and a zoo, combining historical depth with leisure functions. It is a classic spot for tourists to check in at the 'Peony Flower City.' In my understanding, if you visit during the peony season (April), you must include this place as a must-see. Early morning sees fewer people, and the peonies are most delicate with the dew; outside the blooming season, it is more suitable for a leisurely walk.

Tips: Popular attractions in the park often have long queues. Upon entry, first get a map and show schedule, and prioritize must-visit attractions. Tourists generally agree that most visitors believe Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, manage your energy wisely—tackle the highlights in the morning when you are fresh, and slow the pace in the afternoon. Don’t overexert on the first day, or you’ll be exhausted for the following days.
