Day 1: Yuntai Mountain

Morning entry Yuntai Mountain, take the scenic shuttle bus to first visit Hongshi Gorge Danxia, then proceed to Tanpu Gorge Waterfall; have a simple lunch at the scenic area around noon, in the afternoon climb Zhuyu Peak or stroll along Quanpu Gorge, and return to the hotel in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yuntai Mountain attractions. Yuntai Mountain is located in Jiaozuo Xiuwu, and it is one of the first batch of World Geoparks, famous for the red cliffs and clear waters of Hongshi Gorge, the cascading waterfalls of Tanpu Gorge, the "highest waterfall in Asia" Yuntai Sky Waterfall in Quanpu Gorge, and the sunrise sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak. It represents the most iconic landscapes of the southern Taihang Mountains. Hongshi Gorge is the essence of the essence, a red quartz sandstone gorge about two kilometers long, with winding emerald waters at the bottom and cliffs red as evening glow. Zhuyu Peak is famous because of the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei's line "Everywhere I plant zhuyu, there is one person missing." Taking the cable car to the top allows a panoramic view of the Taihang peaks. Shuttle buses in the scenic area connect different points, and the paths are gentle, making it suitable for family outings. My understanding is that one day is not enough to see everything, so prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley; wait times for scenic buses can be long, so allow plenty of time. It is cool to enjoy the water in summer and the forest colors in autumn, each with its own charm.

Warm Tips: The mountain trails have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear anti-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to use the cable car. Visitors generally report that Hongshi Gorge is considered the most photogenic section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth seeing. Be aware that the scenic bus lines are long, so if you cannot see everything in one day, prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. For authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; the queues at the main gate are long and the taste is average. Always ask for prices before buying specialty products, and local supermarkets are often more reliable.

Day 2: Free activities

Early in the morning, enter Guoliang Village, take advantage of the morning light to walk along the cliff-hanging highway, and experience the shock of tunnels carved into the cliff; in the afternoon, enjoy free activities and you can explore Wanxian Mountain Danfeng Gorge, returning in the evening.

Tips: Free activities are suitable for catching up on sleep and leisurely strolling. It is recommended to rest in the morning, explore and eat according to your interests in the afternoon, and avoid staying out too late in the evening to prevent affecting the next day's schedule. Visitors generally feedback that many find the free activity day the most relaxing, allowing them to go at their own pace. Based on the actual situation, when taking photos, don't just focus on getting the shot—pay attention to your footing and the surrounding environment. Always stay steady on viewing platforms and trail edges.

Day 3: Wanxian Mountain

Today, the theme is Wanxian Mountain. Avoid peak crowds by entering the park during off-peak hours and follow the recommended route for an in-depth visit. Have a nearby local-flavored lunch at noon. In the afternoon, enjoy free activities or join the guide for additional touring, and spend the night at a hotel to rest.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights in the itinerary is Wanxian Mountain. The Wanxian Mountain scenic area is located deep in the Taihang Mountains of Huixian, including Guoliang Cliff Road and Nanping Danfenggou. The red cliffs interlace with waterfalls and clear pools, making it one of the most representative landscape galleries of the Taihang Mountains. It is famous for being a filming location for many movies and TV dramas. Attractions such as Guoliang Village, Tianchi, and the watchtower form an impressive Taihang hiking route. The average summer temperature is pleasant, making it a place to enjoy the Taihang scenery not far from Zhengzhou and Luoyang. In my understanding, the hike is long with many steps, so be sure to wear non-slip shoes. Pay attention to passing vehicles on the cliff-side road sections, and the light at dawn and dusk is best for photographing the red cliffs.

Tips: Many mountain roads are slippery. On downhill paths, especially, remember to shift your center of gravity backward and slow your pace; knee pads are recommended. Visitors generally report that the cliff-side road (Guoliang Tunnel) is the most stunning and photogenic, but mountain roads can cause car sickness. It is advised to bring motion sickness medicine and take time on observation decks. In practice, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious sites, and avoid pointing around casually; a simple greeting can earn goodwill.
