Day 1: Henan Museum

Entering Henan Museum early in the morning, follow the 'Early China' main exhibition line to carefully explore each hall, focusing on reading the stories behind the national treasures; in the afternoon, enjoy free activities, such as taking additional photos or visiting the surrounding area.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Henan Museum. Henan Museum is a landmark of Central Plains civilization, with a collection of over 170,000 cultural relics, systematically presenting 'Early China' along the main line of 'the grand Chinese civilization, choosing the center to establish the capital'. Among the museum's treasures, the Jiahu bone flute is the earliest known playable instrument, rewriting the history of Chinese music; the Duling square ding and cloud-patterned bronze vessel are pinnacle works of bronze casting in the Shang and Zhou dynasties; the Lady Hao owl-shaped zun boasts a magnificent shape and tells the legend of Lady Hao, wife of King Wu Ding of Shang; additionally, there are other national treasures like the lotus crane square pot and the gold tablet of Empress Wu Zetian. It is recommended to follow a guide or rent an audio guide. Within two hours, you can get a comprehensive view of the main thread of Chinese civilization. My understanding is that it is most efficient to first go straight to a few of the museum's treasures for a satisfying look, and then systematically follow the timeline to catch the main line; it is normal for the national treasure display cases to be crowded, so knowing the location of the key treasures in advance allows you to go straight to the highlights and save time.

Warm Tips: Museums generally require reservations or ticket exchange with an ID, so please confirm the opening hours and reservation methods in advance. Visitors usually feedback that most consider Henan Museum worth visiting specifically. It is recommended to slow down the pace, follow the guide for explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best spots for photos. Depending on the actual situation, the biggest risk in a group tour is rushing through. Listening to the explanations is the essence, as the cultural stories behind each site are often more unforgettable than photos. If you do not understand something, ask the guide on the spot.

Day 2: Only Henan

Today Only Henan in-depth experience, reserve a whole day to follow the storyline, focusing on the main plays and well-reviewed small plays; dine and rest within the park, ending in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Only Henan. ‘Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City’ is located in Zhongmu, and is a giant theatrical settlement built with loess. Through more than twenty theaters and nearly a hundred performances, it presents the hardships, harvests, and perseverance of Central Plains civilization. Major theaters such as the main performances 'Fantasy City', 'Train Station', 'Li Family Village', etc., have excellent reputations, while small theaters are full of clever ideas, with the imagery of wheat waves running throughout, making it a phenomenal landmark for Henan cultural tourism. This is not a traditional attraction, but an immersive cultural experience. My understanding is that it is essential to reserve a whole day, schedule the main play first, and then fit in the small theaters; book tickets in advance through official channels and check the performance schedule carefully, as popular shows are often fully booked.

Tips: The canyon trail is along water and cliffs, do not climb over railings, do not play in dangerous areas, and supervise accompanying children. Visitors generally report that the immersive experience in Drama Fantasy City is loved by young people, but tickets are expensive and time-consuming; it is recommended to choose the core theaters and reserve at least half a day. Depending on your situation, if you want authentic food, go deeper into the alleys; lines at the main entrance are long and the taste is average. For local specialties, ask for the price before comparing; local supermarkets often offer more authentic products.

Day 3: Wanxian Mountain

Assemble in the morning and depart for Wanxian Mountain. Follow the guide along the main route, visit all the key highlights, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest. Enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, continue exploring in the afternoon, and check into a hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wanxian Mountain. The Wanxian Mountain Scenic Area is located deep in the Taihang Mountains of Huixian. Within it are the Guoliang Hanging Road and Nanping Danfeng Gorge, with red cliffs and clear waterfalls intertwined, making it one of the most representative landscape galleries of the Taihang Mountains. It is famous for being the filming location of several movies and TV shows. Attractions such as Guoliang Village, Tianchi, and the watchtower form an impressive Taihang hiking route. The summer temperature is pleasant, and it is a place where one can experience the Taihang Mountains close to Zhengzhou and Luoyang. From my understanding, the hiking involves a lot of steps, so wearing non-slip shoes is essential. Be careful of oncoming vehicles on the hanging road section. The early morning and evening light is the best for photographing the red cliffs.

Warm Tips: Many mountain roads are slippery, especially downhill; pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps, and consider bringing knee pads. Visitors generally feedback that the hanging road (Guoliang Tunnel) is the most impressive and photogenic, while mountain roads can easily cause motion sickness; be sure to bring motion sickness medicine and take your time at viewing platforms. Plan your physical energy accordingly—tackle the main highlights in the morning when you are fresh and slow down the pace in the afternoon. Don’t overexert on the first day, or you might have no energy for the following days.
