Day 1: Only Henan

Early in the morning, go to the Drama Fantasy City, first watch the main theater performances, then check out the smaller theaters; in the afternoon, freely choose the shows and immerse yourself in Central Plains civilization, returning in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Drama Fantasy City. 'Drama Fantasy City' is located in Zhongmu, and it is a giant theatrical settlement built with rammed earth. Through more than twenty theaters and nearly a hundred performances, it presents the suffering, harvest, and resilience of Central Plains civilization. The main theater performances such as 'Fantasy City,' 'Train Station,' and 'Li Family Village' have excellent reputations, while the smaller theaters are uniquely creative, with images of wheat waves running throughout. It is a phenomenal cultural tourism landmark and not a traditional attraction, but an immersive cultural experience. My understanding is that you must reserve an entire day, arrange the main theater schedule first, and then fit in the smaller theaters; purchase tickets in advance through official channels and check the show schedule carefully, as popular shows often sell out.

Tips: The canyon walkway is near water and cliffs, so do not climb over railings or play in dangerous areas, and watch the accompanying children. Visitors generally report that the immersive experience of Drama Fantasy City appeals to young people, but the tickets are expensive and time-consuming; it is recommended to focus on the main theaters and reserve at least half a day. Depending on your situation, for authentic food, go deeper into the alleyways, as the lines at the main entrance are long and the taste is average; check prices before buying specialty products, as local supermarkets are often more reliable.

Day 2: Yuntai Mountain

Today's water-friendly journey follows the trails connecting Hongshi Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, and Quanpu Gorge, with a gentle pace suitable for the whole family; in the afternoon, there is free time for additional photos, and in the evening, rest and relaxation.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes several attractions. They are located in Xiuwu and are among the first batch of World Geoparks. They are famous for the red cliffs and clear waters of Hongshi Gorge, the flying waterfalls and flowing springs of Tanpu Gorge, the 'tallest waterfall in Asia,' Yuntai Tian Waterfall, in Quanpu Gorge, as well as the sea of clouds and sunrise at Zhuyu Peak. This makes it the most representative scenic area of mountains and rivers on the southern slope of the Taihang Mountains. Hongshi Gorge is the essence among the essence, a red quartz sandstone gorge approximately two kilometers long, with winding clear waters at the valley bottom and cliffs as red as sunset. Zhuyu Peak is famous because of the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei's line 'Planting zhuyu everywhere, yet a person is missing.' Taking the cable car to the top offers a panoramic view of the Taihang peaks. Shuttle buses connect the points within the scenic area, and the trails are gentle, suitable for family trips. In my opinion, if one day is not enough, first focus on the core sections of Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley, and be sure to allow enough time for queuing for the shuttle bus. Summer is cool for water activities, while autumn features beautifully colored forests—each season has its charm.

Tips: The mountain roads are often slippery, so be especially careful when going downhill by shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps. Consider bringing a pair of knee pads. Visitors commonly report that Hongshi Gorge is considered the most photogenic section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth seeing. Be reminded that queues for shuttle buses are long; if one day isn't enough, prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Consider your physical condition and save energy: walk the highlights in the morning when you are fresh, slow down in the afternoon, and avoid exhausting yourself on the first day so that you have energy for the following days.
