Day 1: White Horse Temple

In the morning, tour White Horse Temple, from the mountain gate and Hall of Heavenly Kings to the Great Buddha Hall, carefully explore along the central axis, then visit the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard; At noon, try Luoyang local cuisine; in the afternoon, visit Burmese and Indian-style Buddhist halls to experience the exotic charm of the thousand-year-old temple.

Attraction introduction: One highlight of the itinerary is White Horse Temple, located east of Luoyang city. It was first built during the Yongping era of the Eastern Han Dynasty to commemorate the White Horse Carrying Scriptures and the early introduction of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is honored as "China's First Ancient Temple" and the first government-run temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Inside the temple, the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Heavenly King Hall are arranged along the central axis, with red walls and green cypress trees where incense offerings have continued for over two thousand years. It is worth mentioning that the temple also features exotic-style Buddhist halls donated by countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and India, showcasing the unique landscape of Buddhist culture flowing eastward and backward. My understanding is that when entering the temple, first see the main hall along the central axis, then circle around to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the foreign Buddhist halls on both sides to experience cultural fusion; Come early in the morning when there are fewer people; the sunlight shining on the red walls and ancient cypress trees creates the most poetic atmosphere, and you can also avoid the peak of tour groups.

Friendly reminder: Temples have many stone steps and thresholds; do not step on thresholds. Arrange in order during worship without pushing. Tourists generally report that the foreign style Buddhist halls (Thai/Burmese/Indian temples) have a high rate of photos, and visitors generally feel they are more spacious than expected; Reminder: The international temple area is quite far to walk and should be kept in the distance. Based on actual conditions, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious venues, and do not give casual advice; a simple greeting can earn goodwill.

Day 2: Sui-Tang Luoyang City

Depart early from the hotel and head straight to Sui-Tang Luoyang City. First, listen to the tour guide explain the background and highlights, then explore freely at a leisurely pace and take additional photos according to your interests. After lunch, take a short rest, and in the evening, return to the hotel to save energy for the next day.

Attraction Introduction: This stop brings us to Sui-Tang Luoyang City. Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park centers around Yingtian Gate, Mingtang, and Tiantang, restoring the grandeur of the palaces of the 'Divine Capital' Luoyang of the flourishing Tang Dynasty. Yingtian Gate serves as the main southern gate of Sui-Tang Luoyang City, majestic in scale; climbing the tower allows a view down the central axis, and at night there is a stunning light show. Mingtang was the 'Palace of Myriad Phenomena' during Empress Wu Zetian's reign, while Tiantang is a tall tower for Buddhist rituals. The interiors of both buildings recreate the luxurious furnishings of a Tang Dynasty court. Strolling by Jiuzhou Pool is also pleasant, evoking the grandeur of the imperial gardens of the time. This location is closely associated with TV dramas such as "Wu Zetian" and "The Wind Rises in Luoyang," making it one of the most popular Tang culture attractions in Luoyang in recent years. My understanding is that it is essential to visit at night—the lights of Yingtian Gate and Mingtang-Tiantang show what the 'Divine Capital' truly looks like when illuminated. Seeing the palace furnishings during the day and the light show at night offers two different experiences in one day.

Tips: The ancient capital offers a rich variety of night tours. Remember to keep warm and take note of the meeting points when traveling at night. Visitor feedback generally indicates that most think Sui-Tang Luoyang City is worth a dedicated visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide, listen to explanations, and give time to the details that move you most and the best photo spots. In practice, group tours should avoid rushing through highlights; the key is to listen to the explanations. The cultural stories behind each site are often more memorable than photos, so ask the guide on the spot if you don’t understand something.

Day 3: Baiyun Mountain

Today's vacation trip: Take the cableway and sightseeing shuttle to connect Yuhuang Peak, Jiulong Waterfall, and Alpine Peony Garden, enjoying a relaxed pace; free activities in the afternoon and rest in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: This stop brings us to Baiyun Mountain, located in the heart of Funiu Mountain in Song County. Yuhuang Peak offers a view of the sea of clouds at sunrise. The area has a high forest coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions, making it a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic area, Jiulong Waterfall and the Alpine Peony Garden each have their unique features. It is a rare high-altitude resort-style scenic area suitable for summer retreats and autumn leaf viewing. You can connect the attractions by cableway or sightseeing shuttle; the mountaintop offers wide views, shrouded in mist, like a fairyland. In my understanding, visiting in summer for a cool escape is the most worthwhile. The cool mountain air contrasts sharply with the heat in the city; waking up early to climb Yuhuang Peak for the sea of clouds and sunrise requires a bit of luck, but even without seeing the sunrise, the morning mist-covered mountains are beautiful enough.

Tips: The hiking paths have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to use the cableway. Most visitors report that Baiyun Mountain is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that move you the most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, for authentic food, go deeper into the side alleys. The lines at the scenic area's main entrance are long, and the taste is average. For specialty products, check the price first and compare; local supermarkets often carry more authentic goods.
