Day 1: Laojun Mountain

In the morning, take the cable car up to Laojun Mountain and climb the Golden Summit Daoist temples. On clear days, you'll encounter a sea of clouds; Have a simple lunch at the summit at noon, then walk the ten-li Huaping Trail in the afternoon, overlooking the mountains from a glass viewing platform, and descend in the evening to check in at the hotel.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Laojun Mountain, located in Luanchuan County Luoyang. It is the main peak of Funiu Mountain and a famous Taoist mountain, said to be the place where Laozi, the founder of Taoism, retired for cultivation. The Golden Summit Daoist temple cluster stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level. Its golden tiles and red walls and surging sea of clouds are renowned as "a spectacular feast on earth and a glimpse of the flourishing world." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the highlight of the entire trip. A high-altitude plank road suspended above a sheer cliff changes views with every step, offering panoramic views of peaks, forests, sea of clouds, and sunrises. You can take a two-level cable car up the mountain; on sunny days, you can watch the sea of clouds and sunrise from the summit. In winter, it is a highly popular snow-viewing spot in the Central Plains. My understanding is: be sure to take the cable car up the mountain early to seize the golden summit and the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Painting Screen; At the summit, the wind is strong and the temperature low; a windbreaker and thermos bottle are standard, and the glass observation deck is a must-have.

Friendly reminder: The mountain area has large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the wind at the summit is strong. A windproof jacket and warm inner layer are very necessary. Visitors generally report that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the summit are recognized as the main highlights, and many people stay at the summit waiting for dawn; Reminder: The large temperature difference at the summit and long cable car lines are essential, so be sure to arrive early during peak season. Depending on the situation, shoot early or late—the morning is quiet and the golden light is best at dusk, and the noon summit is cramped and flat, making it more cost-effective to rest.

Day 2: Free Activities

Early in the morning, enter Jiguan Cave and stroll inside the heated cave to admire the spectacular lights of the stalactites; In the afternoon, you can have free time and take photos of the vegetation outside the cave, then return in the evening.

Friendly reminder: Free activity days are not uniformly arranged. Before leaving, note your hotel location and meeting time, fully charge your phone, and bring a power bank. Frequent travelers generally report that frequent travelers prefer to save free time days for local food and streets to experience the most authentic urban life. Based on actual conditions, documents and wallets are kept separately. Important documents can be taken and stored on your phone for backup. If lost, you can quickly reissue them without delaying your trip.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Today's Chongdugou summer retreat is slow-paced, focusing on thousands of acres of bamboo forests and cascading waterfalls; Afternoon is optional, and overnight stay at a farmhouse to rest.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Chongdugou. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan, famous for its vast bamboo forests, waterfalls, and the agricultural charm of western Henan. It is one of the few "Jiangnan water town" style summer leisure spots in Henan. The scenic area is divided into Jinji River and Dicui River. Jinji River is famous for its clusters of waterfalls, with splashing water that is cool and pleasant; Dicui River is a continuous bamboo forest, with lush greenery stretching through. Here, you can stay in farmhouses, taste wild vegetables, and experience authentic mountain village life in western Henan. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for family trips and summer vacations. My understanding is that slowing down the pace and not rushing to see attractions — walking through the bamboo forest or sitting by the stream is the right way to experience Chongdugou; Summer is the most comfortable, so cool you don't want to walk.

Friendly reminder: The canyon's waterside trails are slippery, so be sure to wear non-slip river shoes or sneakers, and keep your phone and other valuables waterproof. Visitors generally report that most think Chongdugou is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to the commentary, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera angles. Based on the situation, be punctual. Gather five to ten minutes early—better to wait for the bus than for the car—don't make everyone wait for you.
