Zhengzhou 3-Day Tour: Henan Only Show & Guoliang Village
Zhengzhou 3-day tour covering Henan Only Show and Guoliang Village. Sightseeing tickets and shuttle bus included.
Highlights
Day 1: Only Henan
Arrive early at the Fantasy Drama City, start by watching the main stage productions, then hop between the smaller theaters; in the afternoon, freely choose performances, immerse yourself in Central Plains civilization, and return in the evening.
Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is the Fantasy Drama City. Located in Zhongmu, it is a giant drama settlement built with rammed earth. Through more than twenty theaters and nearly one hundred performances, it presents the suffering, harvests, and resilience of Central Plains civilization. The main stage productions like 'Fantasy City,' 'Train Station,' and 'Li Family Village' are highly acclaimed, while the smaller theaters each have unique creativity, with the imagery of wheat fields running throughout. It is a phenomenal cultural tourism landmark. This is not a traditional attraction, but an immersive cultural experience. In my understanding, it is essential to reserve a whole day, schedule the main performances first, then intersperse smaller theater visits; book tickets in advance through official channels and check the performance timetable, as popular shows often sell out quickly.
Tips: The canyon water route sections are slippery, so be sure to wear anti-slip creek shoes or sports shoes, and waterproof your valuables such as phones. Visitors generally report that the immersive experience of Fantasy Drama City is favored by young people, but tickets are expensive and it is time-consuming; it is recommended to select the core theaters and reserve at least half a day. Depending on your situation, keep documents and wallets separate, take photos of important documents for backup on your phone, so that in case of loss, you can quickly get replacements without delaying your trip.
Day 2: Guoliang Village
Today's Taihang trip focuses on the cliff-hanging road and the film and television village, with a distant view of the canyon village; in the afternoon, we will shoot additional footage, and in the evening, rest.
Attraction Introduction: A major highlight of the itinerary is Guoliang Village, Guoliang Village is hidden on the sheer cliffs deep in the Taihang Mountains and is famous for its 'cliff-hanging road'. In the 1970s, villagers, in order to open a path to the outside world and without any large machinery, spent more than five years chiseling a tunnel about 1,300 meters long into the cliff face, which is considered a 'modern-day Foolish Old Man' miracle. Today, this cliff-hanging road is the hardest-core check-in spot in the Taihang Mountains, where walking along it allows you to overlook the abyss and canyon villages. Guoliang Village is also known as the 'Chinese Film and Television Village' because several films and TV shows have been shot here. My understanding is that when walking the cliff-hanging road, leave enough time, watch and shoot along the way, and pay attention to your footing and oncoming vehicles; early morning or late afternoon provides the best light, while noon is rather flat. Wear non-slip shoes and don’t get too close to the cliff.
Tips: The streets and alleys of the ancient town are crisscrossed and easy to get lost in, so remember the meeting time and clear landmarks. Tourists generally report that the stone village on the cliff connects to the cliff-hanging road and that the filming locations come with a sense of story; be reminded that accommodations and food in the village are simple, so lower expectations to enjoy more. Depending on your situation, bring some small change and packaged snacks, which may be useful if the signal is poor or for temporary supply—you don’t want to look for food only when you’re hungry.
Day 3: Departure
Transfer to the station/airport per your departure, ending a pleasant journey.
Friendly tips: Pack the night before and keep ID, power bank and souvenirs together; allow extra time for the station/airport; bring your ID and stay with your guide, noting the meeting time and place. Traveler feedback — Return-day travelers remind: pack ID and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time. Practical note — Return-day tip: pack ID, power bank and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time—mountain roads are unpredictable.
