Day 1: White Horse Temple

Arrive early in the morning, take advantage of the morning light to quietly explore between the red walls and cypress trees, focusing on the Qiyun Pagoda and the two exotic Buddhist halls; in the afternoon, enjoy free activities or take additional photos along the central axis, then return to the hotel in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple, located in the east of Luoyang city. It was first built during the Yongping period of the Eastern Han dynasty to commemorate the White Horse carrying Buddhist scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is honored as the 'First Ancient Temple in China' and is the first state-established temple after Buddhism was introduced to China. Within the temple, the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, Great Buddha Hall, and Hall of Heavenly Kings are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously among the red walls and cypress trees for over two thousand years. Notably, the temple also has exotically styled Buddhist halls donated by Myanmar, Thailand, India, and other countries, presenting a unique landscape of Buddhist culture spreading eastward and returning westward. My understanding is that one should first visit the main hall along the central axis, then circle to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally go to the exotic Buddhist halls on the sides to experience cultural integration; come early in the morning when there are fewer people, as the morning light on the red walls and ancient cypresses is most picturesque, and it also helps avoid the peak of tourist groups.

Tips: The temple has many stone steps and thresholds; do not step on the thresholds. When worshiping, follow the order and do not push. Visitors generally feedback that the exotically styled Buddhist halls (Thai, Burmese, Indian courtyards) are photogenic and feel more spacious than expected; note that walking in the international temple area can be long, so save some energy for it. Based on actual conditions, mountain weather can change quickly, so a windproof jacket is more practical than anything else; shoes must be non-slip and comfortable. It's better to take fewer photos than to twist your ankle.

Day 2: Longtan Grand Canyon

Today's hydrophilic trip focuses on Liubutan and Yixiantian, experiencing the 'top-notch canyon' red rock landforms; afternoon rest, evening check-in.

Attraction Introduction: This stop brings us to Longtan Grand Canyon, located in Xin'an. It is a canyon famous for its red rock ridges and valleys, and the phenomenon of water flowing uphill, earning it the reputation of 'top-notch canyon' and 'natural museum of the ancient ocean.' Trails like Liubutan and Yixiantian offer strong water-friendly fun, with red rock cliffs and clear turquoise pools complementing each other. Especially in summer, it is a cool destination not far from Luoyang city, ideal for families. The canyon stretches for several kilometers, with waterfalls, deep pools, and unusual stones along the way, offering a new scene at every step. My understanding is that wearing a pair of non-slip water trekking shoes or sports shoes is most suitable, and valuables like your phone should be protected from water. Families with children should slow down their pace, choose the gentle boardwalk sections, and not rush to complete the entire route.

Tips: Signal may be poor within the canyon, so agree on a meeting point with your guide in advance and avoid going alone. General feedback from tourists indicates that most consider Longtan Grand Canyon worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, avoid impulsive shopping; if you see a 'limited-time offer,' stay calm for three minutes first. If you really want to buy souvenirs, make sure to choose a legitimate store and keep your receipts for peace of mind.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Morning tour: along the Jinji River and Dicui River, admire bamboo forests and cascading waterfalls; at noon, taste wild vegetables and farmhouse meals; in the afternoon, stroll through villages in western Henan, enjoying the coolness of a Jiangnan-style water town.

Attraction introduction: This stop is at Chongdugou, Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan, and is renowned for its ten-thousand-acre bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, flowing springs, and western Henan farming culture. It is one of the few "Jiangnan water town" style summer resorts in Henan. The scenic area is divided into the Jinji River and Dicui River areas. Jinji River is famous for its waterfall clusters, with splashing water and pleasant coolness; Dicui River features continuous bamboo forests, with greenery as far as the eye can see. Here, you can stay in farmhouses, taste wild mountain vegetables, and experience authentic western Henan village life. The pace is relaxed, especially suitable for family slow travel and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down, don’t rush to see the attractions — walk in the bamboo forest, sit by the stream; this is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit, with a coolness that makes you not want to leave.

Tips: The water sections of the canyon paths are slippery, so be sure to wear anti-slip creek shoes or sports shoes, and keep valuables such as your phone waterproof. Visitors generally feedback that most believe Chongdugou is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. According to practical conditions, keep your documents and wallet separately, and back up important documents by taking photos on your phone. In case of loss, they can be quickly replaced without delaying your trip.

Day 4: Laojun Mountain

Early in the morning, climb Laojun Mountain, first take the two-level cable car to the Golden Summit, check in at the Taoist temple cluster and the sea of clouds at sunrise; In the afternoon, slowly descend along the Ten-Mile Painted Screen, changing scenery at every step, returning by evening.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Laojun Mountain, located in Luanchuan County Luoyang. It is the main peak of Funiu Mountain and a famous Taoist mountain, said to be the place where Laozi, the founder of Taoism, retired for cultivation. The Golden Summit Daoist temple cluster stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level. Its golden tiles and red walls and surging sea of clouds are renowned as "a spectacular feast on earth and a glimpse of the flourishing world." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the highlight of the entire trip. A high-altitude plank road suspended above a sheer cliff changes views with every step, offering panoramic views of peaks, forests, sea of clouds, and sunrises. You can take a two-level cable car up the mountain; on sunny days, you can watch the sea of clouds and sunrise from the summit. In winter, it is a highly popular snow-viewing spot in the Central Plains. My understanding is: be sure to take the cable car up the mountain early to seize the golden summit and the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Painting Screen; At the summit, the wind is strong and the temperature low; a windbreaker and thermos bottle are standard, and the glass observation deck is a must-have.

Friendly reminder: The mountain area has large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the wind at the summit is strong, so a windproof jacket and warm inner layer are very necessary. Visitors generally report that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the Golden Summit are recognized as the biggest highlights, and many people stay at the summit waiting for dawn; A reminder: the large temperature difference at the summit and long cable car queues are essential, so be sure to arrive early during peak season. Depending on the situation, carry some change and small packs of snacks to help during poor signal or emergency supplies at scenic spots. Don't wait until you're hungry to find them.
