Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Depart from the hotel early in the morning straight to Wangcheng Park. First, listen to the tour guide explain the background and highlights, then freely stroll at a leisurely pace and take extra photos of spots that interest you. After lunch, take a short rest, and return to the hotel in the evening to conserve energy for the next day.

Attraction Introduction: One of the main highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang and is named because it sits on the site of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty royal city. It is one of the main venues for the Peony Culture Festival in Luoyang over the years, and also the most familiar urban park for the citizens of Luoyang. Every April, famous peonies such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in competition, displaying countless shades of purple, red, and pink, making it spectacular. The park also preserves the ruins of the Zhou royal city and a zoo, combining historical significance with recreational functionality. It is a classic spot for tourists to check in at the "Peony Flower City." In my understanding, if you visit during peony season (April), this place must be on your must-visit list. Early in the morning, there are fewer people, and peonies with dew are at their most delicate. Outside the flowering season, it is more suitable for a leisurely walk.

Warm Tips: The food prices in the park are relatively high, so it is appropriate to bring some water and small snacks. Be careful with your personal belongings. Visitors generally feedback that most people think Wangcheng Park is worth visiting specifically. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide's explanations, and leave time for the details that move you the most and the best photo spots. Based on the actual situation, keep important documents and your wallet separately, take photos of important documents and store backups on your phone, so that in case of loss, they can be quickly replaced without delaying your trip.

Day 2: White Horse Temple

Today's Buddhist pilgrimage journey involves following the guide from Qiyun Pagoda to the Sutra Library, listening to explanations along the way, and understanding the two thousand years of incense offerings at China's first ancient temple. In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk around the temple, and rest in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the eastern part of Luoyang City and was originally built during the Yongping era of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was constructed to commemorate the White Horse carrying scriptures and the initial spread of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is revered as 'China's First Ancient Temple' and is the first government-sponsored temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Within the temple, the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Heavenly King Hall are arranged along the central axis, and between the red walls and green cypresses, incense has been burning continuously for more than 2,000 years. Notably, the temple also features exotically styled halls donated by countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and India, presenting a unique scenery showing the eastward transmission and return of Buddhist culture. My understanding is that one should first view the main halls along the central axis upon entering, then stroll to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the exotic halls on the sides to experience cultural integration. Coming in the early morning when there are fewer people is ideal, as the morning light on the red walls and ancient cypresses is most picturesque, and it also helps avoid peak tour group crowds.

Tips: There are many incense stalls around the temple, so buy incense as needed and consume reasonably. Visitors generally report that the exotic style halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian courtyards) are photogenic and often seem more spacious than expected. Note that walking in the international temple area may take some effort, so conserve your energy. Considering practical circumstances, carry some small change and snacks; they can come in handy when signals are weak in the scenic area or for sudden refreshments. Don’t wait until you are hungry to look for food.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Morning tour along the Jinji River and Dicui River to see bamboo forests and flying waterfalls; at noon, enjoy farm-style meals with wild vegetables; in the afternoon, stroll through villages in western Henan and enjoy the coolness of a Jiangnan water town.

Attraction Introduction: This stop brings you to Chongdugou, Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan, known for its ten-thousand-acre bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and the farming culture of western Henan. It is one of the few places in Henan that offers a “Jiangnan water town”-style summer retreat. The scenic area is divided into two sections: Jinji River and Dicui River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing water that is refreshingly cool; Dicui River has continuous bamboo forests, with a lush green view along the walk. Here, you can stay in a farmhouse, taste wild vegetables, and experience authentic life in a western Henan mountain village. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for slow family tours and summer vacations. My understanding is, slow down the pace and don’t rush to visit sights—walk through the bamboo forest, sit by the stream; this is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou. Visiting in summer is the most comfortable, providing coolness so pleasant that you won’t want to leave.

Tips: Sections of the canyon near water are slippery, so be sure to wear anti-slip creek shoes or sports shoes, and protect valuables such as your phone from water. Visitors generally report that most believe Chongdugou is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide’s explanation, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Considering actual conditions, mountain weather can change quickly, so a windproof jacket is always practical; shoes should definitely be anti-slip and comfortable. It’s better to take fewer photos than to twist an ankle.
