Day 1: Jiguan Cave

Today's geological tour: Follow the guide to learn about the formation of karst caves and the wonders of stalactites; in the afternoon, you can explore the surrounding area and rest in the evening.

Attraction introduction: There is one attraction in today's itinerary. It is a karst cave in Luanchuan, where the stalactites inside take on countless shapes. Stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers transform into stunning colors under the lights. The cave maintains a constant, pleasant temperature all year round, warm in winter and cool in summer. The attractions inside the cave are dense, changing scenery with every step, and with the guide's explanations, you can understand the extraordinary craftsmanship of geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It complements other scenic spots with caves and valleys in western Henan, forming a classic geological sightseeing route. My suggestion is that when you enter the cave, remember to follow the guide. The formation and naming of the stalactites are very interesting, and you might miss the highlights if you explore alone. The cave floor is slippery and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: The mountains have large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the winds on the peaks are strong. A windproof jacket and warm layers are necessary. Visitors generally report that most of them feel it is worth making a special trip to this cave. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on your personal condition, pace yourself: tackle the main highlights in the morning when energy is high and slow down in the afternoon to avoid exhausting yourself on the first day and losing energy for the following days.

Day 2: White Horse Temple

Morning visit White Horse Temple, carefully following the central axis from the mountain gate and Hall of Heavenly Kings to the Great Buddha Hall, then to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard; at noon, taste local dishes Luoyang, and in the afternoon, visit Buddhist halls with Burmese and Indian styles to experience the exotic charm of the thousand-year-old temple.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the east of Luoyang city, originally built during the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty, to commemorate the White Horse carrying the Buddhist scriptures and the initial spread of Buddhism to Central China. It is honored as the "First Ancient Temple of China" and was the first government-established temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Within the temple, the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Hall of Heavenly Kings are laid along the central axis, with incense burning continuously amid red walls and green cypress trees for over two thousand years. Notably, the temple also has Buddhist halls built with donations from Myanmar, Thailand, India, and other countries in exotic styles, showcasing the unique landscape of Buddhism's eastward spread and return. My understanding is to first see the main halls along the central axis when entering the temple, then circle to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the side exotic halls to experience cultural integration; visiting early in the morning when there are fewer people, with morning light shining on red walls and ancient cypresses, is most atmospheric and also avoids the peak of tour groups.

Tips: There are quite a few incense stalls around the temple, so buy incense as needed and consume rationally. Tourists generally report that the foreign-style Buddhist halls (Thai/Burmese/Indian courtyards) are highly photogenic, and visitors generally find them more open than expected; note that the international temple area involves considerable walking, so save some energy. According to the actual situation, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious sites, and do not point carelessly; a simple greeting can elicit goodwill.
