Day 1: Mount Song

Today's theme is Mount Song. Avoid peak tourist crowds and enter the park during off-peak hours, following the recommended route for an in-depth visit; have lunch nearby to enjoy local flavors, spend the afternoon on free activities or follow the guide for additional visits, and stay overnight at a hotel to rest.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Mount Song. Mount Song is the Central Peak among the Five Great Mountains, mainly located in Dengfeng City. It consists of the Taishi and Shaoshi mountains, with the main peak Junji Peak reaching about 1,492 meters above sea level. Its uniqueness lies in the coexistence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism on the same mountain for a thousand years: Songyang Academy was a significant center of Neo-Confucianism during the Song dynasty, and the famous story of 'Standing in the snow at Cheng's gate' is said to have happened here; the Zhongyue Temple is one of the largest and best-preserved temple complexes among the Five Great Mountains; the Guoxing Platform in Gaocheng Town, built under the supervision of Guo Shoujing during the Yuan dynasty, is one of the oldest existing astronomical observation structures. In 2010, the historical building complex representing the 'Center of the World' — including Songyang Academy, Zhongyue Temple, Songyue Temple Pagoda, Shaolin Temple Permanent Monastery, Pagoda Forest, Chuzu Monastery, and Guoxing Platform — was listed as a World Heritage Site. My understanding is that there is no need to try to see everything on the first day — first visit the Academy and Zhongyue Temple to understand the ritual system of the 'Center of the World', and save your energy for the mountain climbing later; if time permits, go to the walkway at Sanhuang Fortress on Shaoshi Mountain in the evening to watch the sunset — it is the most photogenic part of the trip.

Tips: The mountain climbing sections have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes; for those with mobility issues, it is recommended to take the cable car up and down. According to general tourist feedback, most visitors feel that Mount Song is worth visiting specifically; it is recommended to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most as well as the best photo spots. Based on your actual situation, if you want to eat authentically, go deeper into the alleys — queues at the main entrance can be long and the taste is average; for souvenirs, inquire about prices and compare them, as local supermarkets often offer more genuine products.

Day 2: Only Henan

Full-day immersion in "Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City," watching multiple plays consecutively according to the performance schedule, interpreting the suffering and harvest of Central China through imagery of wheat fields; have lunch in the park at noon, and return after watching the main performance at night.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Only Henan. Located in Zhongmu, Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City is a giant theatrical settlement built with rammed earth. Through more than twenty theaters and nearly a hundred performances, it presents the suffering, harvest, and resilience of Central Plains civilization. Main theaters' performances such as "Fantasy City," "Train Station," and "Li Family Village" are highly acclaimed, while the small theaters each have their own unique ideas, with wheat field imagery running throughout. It is a phenomenal showcase of Henan's cultural tourism. This is not a traditional attraction, but an immersive cultural experience. My understanding is that one should reserve a full day, schedule the main performances first, and then fit in the small theaters; book tickets in advance through official channels and check the performance timetable carefully, as popular shows often sell out.

Tips: The canyon trail runs along water and cliffs, so do not climb over the railings or play in dangerous areas, and keep an eye on children. Visitors generally comment that Drama Fantasy City’s immersive experience is popular among young people but is expensive and time-consuming; it is recommended to choose the core theaters and reserve at least half a day. Depending on your condition, manage your energy: tackle the major performances in the morning when you are fresh and slow down in the afternoon, so you don’t exhaust yourself on the first day and lose energy for the following days.

Day 3: Yin Ruins

Early in the morning, enter Yin Ruins, first visit the palace area and the chariot and horse pits, then visit the royal tomb area, and follow the guide to understand the beginning of Chinese recorded history; in the afternoon, visit the new museum, and return in the evening.

Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yin Ruins attractions. Yin Ruins is the site of the late Shang Dynasty capital, located in Anyang. It is the birthplace of oracle bones and also the excavation site of the Houmuwu Ding (originally called Simuwu Ding). In 2006, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. This was once the capital after King Pan Geng of the Shang Dynasty moved to Yin, lasting more than 270 years. The palace and ancestral temple sites, the royal tomb area, and the chariot and horse pits are clearly visible. Oracle bones were first discovered here, extending Chinese recorded history back to the Shang Dynasty. The new Yin Ruins museum systematically displays bronze ware, jade, oracle bones, and other cultural relics, serving as the most intuitive classroom for understanding Shang civilization. My understanding is that first seeing the palace and ancestral temple site and the chariot and horse pits establishes a spatial concept, and then going into the museum to carefully examine the relics; only by connecting these two lines can the experience be complete. Oracle bones and large bronze artifacts are the highlights; following the guide to go through them is far better than a cursory glance.

Tips: The mountain roads are quite slippery, especially downhill, pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps, and bringing a pair of knee pads is recommended. Visitors generally feedback that oracle bones and the Simuwu Ding make history 'come alive,' and many say the new museum is more worthwhile than the open-air ruins; it is advised to follow the guide to understand them. Combine with real situations, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious places, avoid pointing randomly, and a simple greeting can bring kindness.
