Day 1: White Horse Temple

Assemble in the morning and depart for White Horse Temple, following the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy local specialty cuisine at noon, check into the hotel in the evening to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the east of Luoyang City and was originally built during the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was constructed to commemorate the White Horse carrying scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to central China and is revered as the "First Ancient Temple in China." It is the first state-sponsored temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Within the temple, Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Hall of Heavenly Kings are arranged along the central axis, with incense continuously burning among red walls and cypress trees for over 2,000 years. It is worth mentioning that the temple also has foreign-style Buddhist halls donated by countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and India, showcasing the unique scenery of the eastward transmission and return flow of Buddhist culture. My understanding is to first see the main hall along the central axis, then go around to Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the exotic Buddhist halls on both sides to experience cultural integration. Visiting in the early morning when there are fewer people, with morning light shining on the red walls and ancient cypresses, is the most poetic and also avoids peak tour group times.

Warm Tips: The temple has many stone steps and thresholds, so do not step over the thresholds; when worshipping, follow the order and do not push. Visitors generally find that the foreign-style Buddhist halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian Courtyards) are very photogenic and feel more spacious than expected. Keep in mind that the international temple area requires long walking, so save some energy. Depending on the actual situation, for the best photos, go early in the morning or late in the afternoon—the light is soft in the morning with fewer people, and the golden glow in the evening is optimal; at noon, the light is harsh and the area is crowded, so it might be better to rest during this time.

Day 2: Shaolin Temple

Gather in the morning and depart for Shaolin Temple. Follow the guide to tour the main attractions, leaving enough time for photos and rest; have a local specialty lunch at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Shaolin Temple attractions. Shaolin Temple is located at the foot of Shaoshi Mountain Wuru Peak in Dengfeng. It was first built in the 19th year of the Taihe period of the Northern Wei Dynasty (495 AD). It is both the ancestral temple of Chan Buddhism and the birthplace of Shaolin martial arts, with a history of more than one thousand five hundred years. The main highlights are concentrated in three areas: Changzhu Hall, along the central axis, consists of the Shanmen, Hall of Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Hall, Sutra Repository, and Lixue Pavilion, with halls and ancient steles arranged along the way; the Pagoda Forest is the largest ancient pagoda complex in China, with more than two hundred brick and stone pagodas from the Tang and Song to the Qing Dynasty, each corresponding to a master monk; the Dharma Cave on Wuru Peak is said to be the place where Bodhidharma faced the wall for nine years. The Martial Arts Hall performs Shaolin martial arts shows at scheduled times every day, demonstrating punches, weaponry, and Qigong at their best. My understanding is to follow the guide along the central axis first and then explore in detail freely; keep quiet and walk around the pagodas when visiting the Pagoda Forest; arrive fifteen minutes early for the martial arts performance to get a good spot.

Tips: There are many incense stalls around the temple, so purchase incense as needed and spend rationally. Visitors generally find the martial arts performance most popular with families with children, while the Pagoda Forest and Chuzu An are often overlooked along the way; note that commercialization in the scenic area is obvious, so inquire about prices for vegetarian meals and other surrounding consumption. Considering practical situations, long trips are prone to dehydration, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on the first night in the plateau or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or bathing for too long to allow your body some time to adapt.

Day 3: Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden

Gather in the morning and depart for Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden, following the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for photos and rest; at noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening check into the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day’s itinerary.

Attraction introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden is located in Kaifeng and is a Song Dynasty cultural theme park built based on the Northern Song painting 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' by Zhang Zeduan. It recreates the Rainbow Bridge, Bian River, streets, and wine houses from the painting, showcasing the bustling city life of Bianliang, the capital of the Song Dynasty. The park features live performances and folk parades throughout the day. The most famous is the nighttime water live show 'Great Song·Dream of Bianliang', which uses light and shadow to recreate the grand scene of the Northern Song capital; during the day, visitors can watch immersive folk performances such as the park opening ceremony, Judge Bao welcoming guests, and Mr. Wang proposing marriage. This place is also a paradise for hanfu enthusiasts. Wearing Song-style hanfu and walking between Rainbow Bridge and Bian River provides countless opportunities for authentic ancient-style photos. My understanding is that upon entering the park, you should first get the performance schedule, plan the must-see performances and evening shows, and then explore and eat at your own pace; visiting the marketplace during the day gives the strongest sense of immersion, while the evening show is a visual and auditory feast that is worth seeing if the budget allows.

Tips: Popular attractions in the park often have long lines, so pick up a map and show schedule upon entry and prioritize the must-try attractions. Visitors generally find the daytime marketplace the most immersive, while the nighttime 'Great Song·Dream of Bianliang' show receives mixed reviews; note that performance tickets are relatively expensive, so choose according to your budget. Based on practical circumstances, be mindful of time, arrive five to ten minutes early at the meeting point; it is better for people to wait for the vehicle than the vehicle to wait for people, so don't make everyone wait for you.
