Day 1: White Horse Temple

Assemble in the morning and set off for White Horse Temple, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving ample time for photography and rest; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the eastern part of Luoyang city. It was first built during the Yongping era of the Eastern Han Dynasty, in commemoration of the White Horse carrying Buddhist scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is revered as 'China’s First Ancient Temple' and is the first state-established temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Inside the temple, Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, Grand Buddha Hall, and Heavenly King Hall are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously among the red walls and cypress trees for over two thousand years. Notably, the temple also features foreign-style halls donated by countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and India, presenting a unique landscape of the eastward spread and return flow of Buddhist culture. My understanding is that one should first view the main halls along the central axis upon entering, then stroll to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the exotic halls on both sides to experience cultural integration. Coming in the early morning when there are fewer people is ideal, as the morning light on the red walls and ancient cypress trees is most picturesque, and it also helps avoid peak tour group crowds.

Tips: Please maintain silence and dress neatly when entering the temple. Generally, photography is not allowed inside the halls, and the sacred objects should not be touched; contributions are voluntary. Visitors generally report that the foreign-style halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian) are very photogenic and feel more spacious than expected. Be aware that the international temple area requires a fair amount of walking, so save some energy. Be punctual based on the actual situation, arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings, and always remember: better to have people wait for the vehicle than the vehicle waiting for people, so as not to hold everyone up for just one person.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Laojun Mountain. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang, Luanchuan County, and is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains. It is also a famous Taoist mountain, said to be the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retired and practiced. The Golden Summit Taoist Temple complex sits atop the peak at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, with golden-tiled temples and red walls amidst surging clouds, earning a reputation of "a breathtaking feast on Earth, a glimpse of the world's grandeur." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the essence of the trip, a high-altitude plank road on the cliff that offers changing views, capturing forests of peaks, sea of clouds, and sunrises. Visitors can ascend by a two-level cable car; on clear days, the summit provides a view of the sunrise over the sea of clouds, and in winter, it is a popular spot for snow viewing in Central China. My advice is to get to the cable car early to catch the best light at the Golden Summit and the Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the summit is windy and cold, so a windproof jacket and thermos are essential, and those who are afraid of heights should not force themselves on the glass observation deck.

Tips: Mountain areas have a large temperature difference between morning and evening, and the summit is windy, making a windbreaker and warm inner layers necessary. Visitors generally agree that the Golden Summit's sea of clouds and sunrise are the main attractions, with many staying on the summit overnight to catch dawn; note the large temperature difference on the summit and long queues for the cable car, so be sure to go early during peak season. Based on actual conditions, when taking photos, pay attention not just to getting good shots, but also to your footing and surroundings—always stand securely on the observation deck and plank road edges.

Day 3: Chongdugou

Gather in the morning and set off for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is Chongdugou, located in Luanchuan. Chongdugou is renowned for its vast bamboo forests, waterfalls, streams, and the agricultural charm of western Henan, making it one of the rare "Jiangnan-style" summer resort spots in Henan. The scenic area is divided into two sections: Jinji River and Dicui River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing water that is cool and refreshing; Dicui River has continuous bamboo groves, and walking there is surrounded by lush greenery. You can stay in a farmhouse, try wild mountain vegetables, and experience authentic life in a western Henan village. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for family slow travel and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down, don’t rush through the attractions—walking in the bamboo forest and sitting by the stream is the proper way to experience Chongdugou; visiting in summer is the most comfortable, so refreshing that you won’t want to leave.

Tips: Signal in the canyon may be poor, so arrange the meeting point with the tour guide in advance and avoid acting alone. Visitors generally report that most think Chongdugou is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and for the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, for the best photos, go early or late—fewer people and soft light in the morning, golden glow at dusk, while midday light is harsh and crowded; it’s better to rest then.
