Day 1: Laojun Mountain

Gather in the morning and depart for Laojun Mountain, follow the guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy local specialty cuisine at noon, check into the hotel in the evening to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Laojun Mountain. Laojun Mountain is located in Luoyang, Luanchuan County, and is the main peak of Funiu Mountain. It is also a famous Taoist mountain, traditionally believed to be the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retired and cultivated. The Jin Ding Taoist Temple complex stands on a peak over two thousand meters above sea level, with golden tiles and red walls amidst surging clouds, earning a reputation of "a breathtaking feast on Earth, a glimpse of the world's grandeur." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the essence of the trip, a high-altitude plank road on the cliff offering ever-changing views, capturing forests of peaks, sea of clouds, and sunrises. Visitors can ascend by a two-level cable car. On clear days, the summit provides a view of sunrise over the sea of clouds; in winter, it is a popular place in Central China to enjoy the snow. My suggestion is to take the cable car early to secure good lighting at the Jin Ding and the Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the summit is windy and cold, so a windbreaker and thermos are essential, and hesitant visitors should avoid the glass viewing platform.

Warm Tips: The hiking paths have many steps and steep slopes, so wear non-slip sports shoes; those with mobility issues are advised to use the cable car. Visitors generally recommend the Jin Ding sea of clouds and sunrise as the main highlights, with many staying on the summit overnight to catch dawn. Remember that the summit has large temperature differences and long cable car queues, and it is best to go early in peak season. Respect local customs and dress appropriately in religious sites, do not point casually; a simple greeting can earn goodwill.

Day 2: Sui-Tang Luoyang City

Assemble in the morning and depart for Sui-Tang Luoyang City, following the tour guide to visit the key attractions, allowing ample time for photography and rest; at noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening, check in to the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Tourist Attraction Introduction: This stop is Sui-Tang Luoyang City. Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park centers around Yingtian Gate, Mingtang, and Tiantang, restoring the grandeur of the palaces from the flourishing Tang Dynasty's "Divine Capital" Luoyang. Yingtian Gate is the south gate of Sui-Tang Luoyang City, imposing and majestic; by climbing the tower, you can overlook the central axis, and at night there is a stunning light show. Mingtang was the "Palace of Ten Thousand Phenomena" during Wu Zetian's reign, while Tiantang is a high tower for worship; the interiors of both buildings recreate the magnificent furnishings of Tang Dynasty palaces. The area around Jiuzhou Pool is also worth a leisurely stroll, evoking the grandeur of the royal gardens in the past. This place is closely associated with films and TV series such as "Wu Zetian" and "The Wind Rises in Luoyang," and has become one of the most popular Tang culture check-in spots in Luoyang in recent years. My understanding is that it is a must to visit at night—the lights of Yingtian Gate, Mingtang, and Tiantang at dusk show what the "Divine Capital" truly looks like; see the palace furnishings by day, and enjoy the light show by night—two experiences in one day.

Tips: Popular ancient city landmarks are crowded during holidays, so try to visit during off-peak times or book tickets in advance. Visitors generally report that most people feel Sui-Tang Luoyang City is worth a dedicated visit; it is recommended to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and reserve time for the details that impress you most and the best photo spots. Depending on the circumstances, group tours that rush through attractions miss the essence; listening to the explanations is the highlight. The cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than photos, so ask the guide on-site if you don't understand something.

Day 3: Yin Ruins

Gather in the morning and depart for Yin Ruins, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; have a local specialty lunch at noon, and check into the hotel in the evening to rest and prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes Yin Ruins attractions. Yin Ruins is the site of the late Shang Dynasty capital, located in Anyang. It is the hometown of oracle bones and the place where the Houmuwu Ding (originally known as Simuwu Ding) was discovered. In 2006, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. This was the capital city after King Pan Geng moved the Shang capital to Yin, lasting more than 270 years. The palace and ancestral temple ruins, royal tomb area, and chariot and horse pits are clearly visible. Oracle bones were first discovered here, pushing China’s historical record back to the Shang Dynasty; the new museum of Yin Ruins systematically displays bronzes, jade, oracle bones, and other cultural relics, making it the most intuitive classroom for understanding Shang civilization. My understanding is to first see the palace and ancestral temple ruins and the chariot pits to establish a spatial concept, then go into the museum to carefully examine the artifacts. Connecting these two lines gives a complete picture; oracle bones and large bronze artifacts are the highlights, and following the guided explanation is much more informative than just walking around.

Kind Reminder: Many mountain paths are slippery, especially downhill, where you should shift your center of gravity back and slow your steps; a pair of knee protectors can be prepared. Visitors generally report that the oracle bones and Simuwu Ding make history “come alive,” and they say the new museum is more worthwhile than the open-air ruins; remember that the exhibits make sense only when combined with the explanation. Depending on the actual situation, if you want authentic local food, go deeper into the alleys, as the lines at the main entrance of the scenic area are long and the taste is average; for local specialties, compare prices after inquiring, as local supermarkets often offer more authentic products.
