Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Assemble in the morning and set off for Wangcheng Park, follow the guide to visit the main attractions, leaving ample time for photos and rest; have a local specialty meal at noon, check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One highlight arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang, named because it sits on the site of the Eastern Zhou royal city ruins. It is one of the main venues for the China Luoyang Peony Cultural Festival and also the most familiar city park for Luoyang citizens. Every April, famous peony varieties such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in competition, displaying a dazzling array of colors and creating a magnificent spectacle. The park also preserves the Eastern Zhou royal city ruins and a zoo, combining historical significance with recreational functions, making it a classic spot for tourists visiting the 'Peony Flower City.' My understanding is that if you come during the peony season (April), this place must be on your must-visit list — early in the morning, there are fewer people, and the peonies are most delicate with dew. Outside the flowering season, it is more suitable for a leisurely walk.

Tips: Dining prices inside the park are relatively high, so it is advisable to bring water and snacks, and take care of your personal belongings. Visitors generally report that most believe Wangcheng Park is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and reserve time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, do not only focus on photos — pay attention to your feet and surroundings, and make sure to stand firmly on viewing platforms or along trails.

Day 2: Chongdugou

Gather in the morning and set off for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing plenty of time for photos and rest; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check in at the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is Chongdugou. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan and is known for its thousands of acres of bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and Western Henan farming scenery. It is a rare "Jiangnan-style water town" retreat in Henan, perfect for summer leisure. The scenic area is divided into two sections: Jinji River and Dicui River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing waters and refreshing coolness; Dicui River features continuous bamboo forests, making for a lush green walk. Visitors can stay in farmhouses, sample wild mountain vegetables, and experience authentic Western Henan village life. The pace is slow, making it particularly suitable for family leisure trips and summer vacations. In my opinion, the key is to slow down and not rush through attractions—taking a walk in the bamboo forest or sitting by the stream is the right way to enjoy Chongdugou; coming in summer is most comfortable, cool enough that you won’t want to leave.

Friendly Tips: Signal in the canyon may be weak, so arrange the meeting point with the tour guide in advance and do not wander alone. Tourists generally feedback that most visitors consider Chongdugou worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the tour guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Based on actual conditions, taking photos is best early or late—early morning has few people and soft light, while evening offers golden hues and excellent shots. Midday has harsh light and crowds, making it more worthwhile to use the time to rest.

Day 3: Longmen Grottoes

Gather in the morning and depart for Longmen Grottoes, following the tour guide to visit the main attractions, leaving plenty of time for photos and rest; have a local specialty meal at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge to prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Longmen Grottoes. Longmen Grottoes was carved on the cliffs along both sides of the Yi River in the southern part of Luoyang city. Construction began after Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, continuing through the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang dynasties. Currently, more than 2,300 caves, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions remain. The most astonishing feature is the Vairocana Buddha of Fengxian Temple, over seventeen meters tall, with a full face and compassionate eyes, said to be modeled after Empress Wu Zetian, representing the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Together with the Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang Grottoes, it is one of China's three major grottoes and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. During the visit, walk south along the Yi River from the Western Hills Grottoes; each of the Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, and Lotus Cave offers unique highlights. Crossing the bridge to the East Hills Worship Terrace provides a panoramic view. My understanding is to first visit the main caves of the Western Hills in the morning, when there are fewer people, to appreciate the Buddha statue, and then go to the East Hills in the afternoon for a distant view—this provides the best lighting and angles for photos; walking along both sides of the Yi River requires backtracking, so a pair of comfortable shoes saves a lot of effort.

Tips: Visiting the grottoes mainly involves walking and stairs, so it is recommended to wear non-slip, comfortable shoes and travel light; pay attention to your footing along the Yi River. Visitor feedback generally indicates that most tourists find the Vairocana Buddha most impressive, with the best lighting for photos at the Western Hills at sunset; walking along both sides of the Yi River requires backtracking, so wear comfortable shoes and allow half a day. In practical terms, dehydration is the biggest concern on long trips, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on the first night at high-altitude or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or bathing for too long to give your body some time to adapt.
