Day 1: Chongdugou

Assemble in the morning and depart for Chongdugou, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for taking photos and resting; enjoy a local specialty lunch at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is at Chongdugou. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan and is renowned for its vast bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and western Henan farming charm. It is a rare 'Jiangnan water town'-style summer retreat in Henan. The scenic area is divided into two sections, Jinji River and Dicuí River. Jinji River is famous for its waterfalls, with splashing waters and refreshing coolness; Dicuí River features continuous bamboo groves, and wandering through them offers endless greenery. Here, one can stay in farmhouses, taste wild mountain vegetables, and experience authentic western Henan village life. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for family slow travel and summer vacations. My understanding is to slow down the pace and not rush through the attractions—walking in the bamboo forest and sitting by the stream is the proper way to enjoy Chongdugou; visiting in summer is the most comfortable, providing coolness so pleasant that you won’t want to leave.

Tips: The canyon trails are next to the water and cliffs. Do not climb over railings or play in dangerous areas, and watch your children carefully. Visitors generally report that most people consider Chongdugou worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that touch your heart most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, long trips are most at risk of dehydration, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on your first night in the highlands or mountains, avoid washing your hair or taking long baths to give your body some time to adjust.

Day 2: Baiyun Mountain

Gather in the morning and set off for Baiyun Mountain, follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions, allowing ample time for photos and rest; at noon, enjoy a local specialty meal, and in the evening check into the hotel to recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is Baiyun Mountain. Baiyun Mountain is located in the Funiu Mountains of Song County. From Yuhuang Peak, you can view the sunrise over a sea of clouds. With high forest coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions, it is a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic area, Jiulong Waterfall and the High Mountain Peony Garden each have their own characteristics. In summer, it is a cool retreat; in autumn, it is perfect for viewing red leaves. It is one of the few high-altitude resort-type scenic areas in Henan. You can connect various points via cable car or sightseeing shuttle. The mountaintop has expansive views, shrouded in mist, resembling a fairyland. In my opinion, visiting in summer for the cool weather is most worthwhile, as the mountain’s coolness contrasts sharply with the city’s heat; waking up early to climb Yuhuang Peak for the sunrise over the sea of clouds requires some luck, but even if you miss the sunrise, the mountains in the morning mist are beautiful enough.

Tips: Many mountain paths are slippery, especially downhill, so be sure to shift your center of gravity back and slow your pace. Knee pads are recommended. Visitors generally report that most believe Baiyun Mountain is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the photo spots that are most scenic. Considering the actual situation, be punctual; arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings—better for people to wait for the vehicle than for the vehicle to wait for the person, don’t make everyone wait for you.

Day 3: Taihang Grand Canyon

Gather in the morning and depart for Taihang Grand Canyon. Follow the guide to visit the main attractions, leaving ample time for photography and rest. At noon, enjoy local specialty meals, and in the evening, check into the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the trip is Taihang Grand Canyon. Taihang Grand Canyon stretches across the junction of Shanxi, Hebei, and Henan provinces, with Red Flag Canal passing through the mountains. Peach Blossom Valley, Wangxiang Rock, and Taihang Sky Road connect ruggedness and beauty, showcasing the scenery of the Taihang Mountains. Peach Blossom Valley is famous for its waterfalls and streams, Wangxiang Rock is known for its cliffside plank roads, and Taihang Sky Road allows visitors to take sightseeing buses to view the entire canyon. In spring, the mountains are full of blooming flowers, and in autumn, the forests are richly colored, with each season offering something unique. In my understanding, the scenic area is large and attractions are spread out, so it is essential to plan your route and prioritize core attractions. Hold the railings firmly on steep plank roads, and friends who fear heights should proceed with caution.

Friendly Tips: The water sections in the canyon are slippery, so it is essential to wear anti-slip water shoes or sports shoes, and protect valuables like mobile phones from water. Visitors commonly report that Peach Blossom Valley is serene with water scenery, while Taihang Sky Road is rugged, making every step a different view. Remember to take the sightseeing bus, as weather can greatly affect the experience. Depending on the actual situation, when taking photos, don't focus only on the shots; pay attention to your feet and surroundings. Make sure to hold on and stand properly on observation decks and edges of plank roads.
