Anyang 3-Day Tour: Jiguan Cave & Red Flag Canal
Anyang 3-day tour covering Jiguan Cave and Red Flag Canal. Sightseeing tickets and shuttle bus included.
Highlights
Day 1: Jiguan Cave
Gather in the morning and depart for Jiguan Cave, follow the guide to visit key attractions, and allow plenty of time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, then check into the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day's itinerary.
Attraction introduction: Today's itinerary includes Jiguan Cave attractions. Jiguan Cave is the karst cave in Luanchuan, where stalactites in the cave are varied in shape. Stalagmites, pillars, and stone flowers transform into magnificent colors under the lights, maintaining a pleasant temperature year-round and staying warm in winter and cool in summer. The cave is densely packed with scenic spots, with changing views as you walk. With explanations, you can understand the wonders of geological changes over hundreds of millions of years. It complements Longtan Grand Canyon with a cave and a gorge, forming a classic geological wonder route in western Henan. My understanding is that when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide. The formation and naming of stalactites are quite interesting, and it's easy to miss the highlights when you watch on your own; The cave floor is slippery and some areas are low; wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.
Friendly reminder: The climbing section has many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to take the cable car up and down. Visitors generally report that Jiguan Cave is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide's explanation, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera spots. Based on actual circumstances, keep your documents and wallet separate. Take photos of important documents and keep them on your phone for backup. If lost, you can quickly reissue them without delaying your trip.
Day 2: Red Flag Canal
Gather in the morning and depart for Red Flag Canal, follow the guide to visit key attractions, allowing enough time for photos and rest; Enjoy local specialties at noon, check into the hotel in the evening, and recharge for the next day's itinerary.
Attraction introduction: One of the highlights included in the itinerary is Red Flag Canal. Red Flag Canal is the 'artificial Heavenly River' carved by the people of Linzhou on the sheer cliffs of the Taihang Mountains in the 1960s. It is over 1,500 kilometers long, leveling 1,250 peaks, erecting more than 150 aqueducts, and drilling more than 200 tunnels. It took nearly ten years to complete, serving as a monument to the Chinese nation's spirit of self-improvement. Youth Cave is the most dangerous section of the entire route, carved out by 300 young commandos on a sheer cliff; Fenshuiyuan and Red Flag Canal Memorial Hall fully narrate the arduous canal construction. This is a combination of red education and the magnificent scenery of Taihang, and today it is also a breathtaking cultural landmark. My understanding is that you should first visit the memorial hall to understand the canal construction background, then walk through Youth Cave to truly appreciate the canal's significance; Walk along the canal within your means, wear non-slip shoes, and watch your step.
Friendly reminder: In mountainous areas, there is a large temperature difference between morning and evening, and strong winds at the summit. A windproof jacket and warm inner layer are very necessary. Visitors generally report that the "Artificial Tianhe" has strong spiritual landmark attributes, making it resonate more with middle-aged visitors; Remind the exhibition hall that the explanations are worth listening to and helping you understand that history. Based on actual circumstances, bring some change and small packs of snacks to help with poor signal or emergency supplies at scenic spots. Don't wait until you're hungry to find them.
Day 3: Departure
Transfer to the station/airport per your departure, ending a pleasant journey.
Friendly tips: Pack the night before and keep ID, power bank and souvenirs together; allow extra time for the station/airport; bring your ID and stay with your guide, noting the meeting time and place. Traveler feedback — Return-day travelers remind: pack ID and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time. Practical note — Return-day tip: pack ID, power bank and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time—mountain roads are unpredictable.
