Day 1: Longmen Grottoes

In the morning, head to Longmen Grottoes, follow the Yihe trail from the Xishan Grottoes to closely admire the Fengxian Temple Vairocana Buddha, then cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Platform for a panoramic view; At noon, enjoy the Luoyang water feast, visit Xiangshan Temple and Baiyuan in the afternoon, and return to the hotel in the evening.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Longmen Grottoes, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, and other dynasties. There are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions preserved. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and benevolent eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after Wu Zetian's likeness, marking the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is one of China's three great grottoes and a World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: Visiting the grottoes mainly involves walking and stairs. It is recommended to wear non-slip, comfortable shoes and light clothing, and watch your footing along both banks of the Yi River. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the best light at sunset on the western hills; If you need to walk back along both banks of the Yi River, wear comfortable shoes and reserve half a day. Based on actual conditions, leave some time for physical activity. Focus on the main activities in the morning and slow down in the afternoon to avoid overexertion on the first day and feel bored in the following days.

Day 2: White Horse Temple

Arrive early in the morning, take advantage of the morning light to calmly explore among the red walls and green cypresses, focusing on Qi Yun Pagoda and the two foreign-style Buddhist halls; in the afternoon, enjoy free activities or take additional photos along the central axis, and return to the hotel in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple. White Horse Temple is located in the eastern part of Luoyang city, originally built during the Yongping era of the Eastern Han Dynasty to commemorate the White Horse carrying scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is honored as the 'First Ancient Temple in China' and is the first state-sponsored temple built after Buddhism was introduced to China. Inside the temple, the Qi Yun Pagoda Courtyard, Great Buddha Hall, and Hall of Heavenly Kings are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously among the red walls and green cypresses for over two thousand years. It is worth mentioning that the temple also has foreign-style Buddhist halls donated by Myanmar, Thailand, India, and other countries, presenting a unique scene of Buddhist culture spreading eastward and returning. My understanding is to first see the main hall along the central axis, then proceed to the Qi Yun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the foreign-style Buddhist halls on the sides to experience cultural integration. Visiting early in the morning when there are fewer people, the morning light shines on the red walls and ancient cypresses, creating the most picturesque scenery and avoiding travel group crowds.

Tips: The temple has many stone steps and thresholds; do not step on thresholds. When paying respects, follow the order and do not push. Visitors generally report that the foreign-style Buddhist halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian courtyards) have high photographic value and feel more spacious than expected; note that walking to the international temple area is relatively long, so save some energy. According to the actual situation, respect local customs, dress appropriately when entering religious sites, and do not point casually; a simple greeting can bring goodwill.

Day 3: Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden

Today's time-travel journey: Follow the guide to understand 'Tokyo Dream Records', focusing on live water performances and folk parades; return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden is located at Kaifeng and is a Song Dynasty cultural theme park built based on Zhang Zeduan's 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' of the Northern Song. The park restores the Rainbow Bridge, Bian River, streets, and taverns from the painting, recreating the prosperous city life of Tokyo Bianliang. There are live performances and folk parades throughout the day. The most famous is the night water performance 'The Great Song: Tokyo Dream', which uses light and shadow to recreate the grandeur of the Northern Song capital. During the day, visitors can watch immersive folk performances like the park opening ceremony, Bao Gong welcoming guests, and Master Wang soliciting a match. This is also a paradise for Hanfu enthusiasts; wearing Song-style Hanfu while walking along Rainbow Bridge and Bian River makes every photo look like an ancient-style masterpiece. My understanding is that upon entering the park, first get the performance schedule, plan the must-see performances and night show time, and then casually explore and eat. Exploring the market in the daytime is most immersive, while the night show is a visual and auditory feast; if the budget allows, it is worth seeing.

Tips: When visiting the park with children, be mindful of the risk of getting separated; agree on a meeting point in advance and give the child a contact card. Visitors generally feel that the daytime market has the most immersive experience, while reviews of the night show 'The Great Song: Tokyo Dream' are polarized. Note that show tickets are relatively expensive, so choose according to your budget. Considering the actual situation, joining a tour group often risks a rushed visit; listening to the guide is the essence, as the cultural stories behind each attraction are often more memorable than photos. If unsure about something, ask the guide on the spot.
