Day 1: Chongdugou

Today's Chongdugou summer escape trip is at a relaxed pace, with highlights of the vast bamboo forest and cascading waterfalls and springs; Afternoon is arranged freely, and overnight stay at a farmhouse to rest.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Chongdugou. Chongdugou is located in Luanchuan, famous for its vast bamboo forests, waterfalls, and the agricultural charm of western Henan. It is one of the few "Jiangnan water town" style summer leisure spots in Henan. The scenic area is divided into Jinji River and Dicui River. Jinji River is famous for its clusters of waterfalls, with splashing water that is cool and pleasant; Dicui River is a continuous bamboo forest, with lush greenery stretching through. Here, you can stay in farmhouses, taste wild vegetables, and experience authentic mountain village life in western Henan. The pace is relaxed, making it especially suitable for family trips and summer vacations. My understanding is that slowing down the pace and not rushing to see attractions — walking through the bamboo forest or sitting by the stream is the right way to experience Chongdugou; Summer is the most comfortable, so cool you don't want to walk.

Friendly reminder: The canyon trail is by water and cliffs. Do not climb over guardrails or play in dangerous areas, and watch out for accompanying children. Visitors generally agree that Chongdugou is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanations, saving time for the most impressive details and the best camera spots. Depending on the situation, shoot early or late—early morning, with few people and gentle light, golden sunset is best for photos; at noon, the summit is crowded and flat, so it's more cost-effective to rest.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

In the morning, take the cable car up to Laojun Mountain to the Golden Summit Daoist temple cluster. On clear days, you'll encounter a sea of clouds; Have a simple lunch at the summit at noon, then walk the ten-mile Huaping Trail in the afternoon, overlooking the mountains from a glass viewing platform, and check in at the hotel in the evening.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Laojun Mountain, located in Luanchuan County Luoyang. It is the main peak of Funiu Mountain and a famous Taoist mountain, said to be the place where Laozi, the founder of Taoism, retired for cultivation. The Golden Summit Daoist temple cluster stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level. Its golden tiles and red walls and surging sea of clouds are renowned as "a spectacular feast on earth and a glimpse of the flourishing world." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the highlight of the entire trip. A high-altitude plank road suspended above a sheer cliff changes views with every step, offering panoramic views of peaks, forests, sea of clouds, and sunrises. You can take a two-level cable car up the mountain; on sunny days, you can watch the sea of clouds and sunrise from the summit. In winter, it is a highly popular snow-viewing spot in the Central Plains. My understanding is: be sure to take the cable car up the mountain early to seize the golden summit and the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Painting Screen; At the summit, the wind is strong and the temperature low; a windbreaker and thermos bottle are standard, and the glass observation deck is a must-have.

Friendly reminder: There are many slippery mountain paths, so be sure to shift your weight back and slow down downhill. Knee pads are recommended. Visitors generally report that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the Golden Summit are recognized as the biggest highlights, and many people stay at the summit waiting for dawn; Reminder: The temperature difference at the summit and long cable car queues are key—be sure to arrive early during peak seasons. Based on actual conditions, dehydration is the biggest concern on long trips; carry a water bottle and drink water in small amounts frequently; On the first night in plateau or mountainous areas, don't wash your hair or shower too long, giving your body some room to adjust.

Day 3: Free Activity

Start early in the morning and take a leisurely cruise along the creek trail while enjoying the cool air; it's especially refreshing in summer; Free time in the afternoon is allowed, and you can take extra photos of the Linear Sky Line, then return in the evening.

Friendly reminder: Free activity days are not uniformly arranged. Before leaving, note down hotel locations and meeting times, fully charge your phone, and bring a power bank. Visitors generally report that most use free activity days to sleep in naturally, then browse and eat for extra photos, enjoying a very relaxed experience. Depending on the situation, shoot early or late — the morning light is soft and the dusk golden light is best; the noon ceiling light is cramped and flat, making it more cost-effective to rest.

Friendly tips: Pack the night before and keep ID, power bank and souvenirs together; allow extra time for the station/airport; bring your ID and stay with your guide, noting the meeting time and place. Traveler feedback — Return-day travelers remind: pack ID and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time. Practical note — Return-day tip: pack ID, power bank and souvenirs the night before; allow extra time—mountain roads are unpredictable.
