Day 1: Sui-Tang Luoyang City

Today, with Sui-Tang Luoyang City as the theme, avoid peak crowds and visit the park during off-peak hours, following the recommended route for an in-depth tour; have lunch nearby enjoying local flavors, then spend the afternoon in free activities or join the guide for additional sightseeing, and stay at a hotel in the evening to rest.

Attraction Introduction: This stop is at Sui-Tang Luoyang City. Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Heritage Park centers around the Yingtian Gate, Ming Tang, and Tian Tang, restoring the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty 'Divine Capital' Luoyang. Yingtian Gate is the south main gate of Sui-Tang Luoyang City, magnificent in scale, with a tower that offers a view of the central axis; at night, there is a stunning light show. Ming Tang was the 'Palace of Myriad Phenomena' during Wu Zetian's reign, and Tian Tang is a tall tower for Buddhist ceremonies. The interiors of both buildings restore the luxurious decor of the Tang court. Strolling by the Jiuzhou Pool is also recommended, evoking the grandeur of the royal gardens of the past. This site is closely related to TV series such as 'Wu Zetian' and 'The Wind Rises in Luoyang,' and has become one of the most popular Tang culture check-in spots in Luoyang in recent years. My understanding is that visiting at night is a must—when the lights first come on, the illumination of Yingtian Gate and Ming Tang Tian Tang show what the 'Divine Capital' truly looks like; see the palace furnishings by day, and enjoy the light show by night—two experiences in one day.

Tips: The ancient capital's attractions are dispersed, requiring a fair amount of walking and transfers, so it is recommended to wear comfortable flat shoes and plan your route well. Visitors generally feel that Sui-Tang Luoyang City is worth a dedicated trip; it is suggested to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Depending on the actual situation, to get good photos, go early or late—the morning has fewer people and soft light, the evening has golden light for the best shots, while noon offers harsh, crowded top light; it is better to rest during midday.

Day 2: Longmen Grottoes

In the morning, head to Longmen Grottoes, follow the Yihe trail from the Xishan Grottoes to closely admire the Fengxian Temple Vairocana Buddha, then cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Platform for a panoramic view; At noon, enjoy the Luoyang water feast, visit Xiangshan Temple and Baiyuan in the afternoon, and return to the hotel in the evening.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Longmen Grottoes, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, and other dynasties. There are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions preserved. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and benevolent eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after Wu Zetian's likeness, marking the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is one of China's three great grottoes and a World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: UV rays in the grotto scenic area are quite strong. On sunny days, bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and remember to stay hydrated during long visits. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the sunset on the western hills offers the best lighting; If you need to walk back along both banks of the Yi River, it's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and reserve half a day. Based on actual conditions, dehydration is the worst on long trips; carry a water bottle and drink water in small amounts frequently; On the first night in plateaus or mountains, don't wash your hair or take too long to give your body some room to adjust.

Day 3: Laojun Mountain

Early in the morning, take the two-section cable car to reach the Golden Summit, check in at the Taoist temple complex and enjoy the sea of clouds and sunrise; in the afternoon, slowly descend along the Ten-Mile Painted Screen, enjoying changing scenery at every step, and return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is the Golden Summit. The Golden Summit is located in Luanchuan County, is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains, and is a famous Taoist mountain, reputedly the place where the founder of Taoism, Laozi, retired to cultivate himself. The Golden Summit Taoist temple complex stands atop a peak at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. With its golden roofs and red walls and the rolling sea of clouds, it has the reputation of "travel far to witness a fleeting banquet in the human world, to glimpse the grandeur of the world." The Ten-Mile Painted Screen is the essence of the whole trip. It is a high-altitude walkway suspended along a sheer cliff, offering changing views of peaks, clouds, and sunrise with every step. You can take a two-section cable car up the mountain; on clear days you can see the sea of clouds and sunrise from the summit, and in winter it is a very popular snow-viewing destination in central China. My understanding is that it is essential to take the cable car up early to secure the best light at the Golden Summit and the Ten-Mile Painted Screen; the weather on the summit is windy and cold, so a windbreaker and a thermos are standard equipment, and those who are afraid of heights should not force themselves on the glass observation deck.

Tips: Mountain roads are often slippery, so be especially careful when descending by leaning back and slowing your pace; knee pads can be prepared. Visitors generally agree that the sea of clouds and sunrise at the Golden Summit are the biggest highlights, and many people stay on the summit overnight to catch the dawn. Be reminded that temperature differences are significant, and queues for the cable car can be long, so during peak season, it is crucial to start early. Depending on the actual situation, time management is important; arrive five to ten minutes early for group gatherings—better for people to wait for the vehicle than the vehicle to wait for someone. Don't let everyone wait for you.
