Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Set off from the hotel early in the morning straight to Wangcheng Park, first listen to the tour guide explain the background and highlights, then explore at leisure and retake photos at spots of interest; after lunch, take a short rest, and return to the hotel in the evening to conserve energy for the next day.

Attraction Introduction: One of the main highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang and is named because it is situated on the ruins of the Eastern Zhou Royal City. It has been one of the main venues for the Chinese Luoyang Peony Culture Festival over the years and is also the most well-known city park for the citizens of Luoyang. Every April, famous peony varieties like Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in competition, with a riot of colors that is spectacular; the park also preserves the Eastern Zhou Royal City ruins and a zoo, combining historical significance with leisure functions, making it a classic spot for tourists to check in at the "Peony Flower City." In my understanding, if you come during peony season (April), this should definitely be on your must-visit list, with fewer people in the early morning and peonies looking most charming with dew; outside the flowering season, it is better suited for a leisurely walk.

Tips: When visiting with children, be mindful of the risk of getting separated. Set a meeting point in advance and prepare contact cards for your child. Visitors generally feedback that most consider Wangcheng Park worth a special trip; it is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide's explanations, and reserve time for the details that touch you most and the best photo spots. Considering the actual situation, long trips are most at risk of dehydration, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on your first night in highlands or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or taking long baths to give your body some time to adjust.

Day 2: Yuntai Mountain

Today's waterside journey connects Hongshi Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, and Quanpu Gorge along the trails, with a gentle pace suitable for the whole family; in the afternoon you can shoot freely, and rest in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: There are attractions in today's itinerary, located in Xiuwu. It is one of the first World Geoparks, famous for the red cliffs and clear waters of Hongshi Gorge, the waterfalls and flowing springs of Tanpu Gorge, the 'tallest waterfall in Asia' Yuntai Waterfall in Quanpu Gorge, and the sunrise sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak. It is the most representative landscape of the southern Taihang Mountains. Hongshi Gorge is the essence of the essence, a two-kilometer-long red quartz sandstone canyon, with winding clear waters at the bottom and red cliffs like rosy clouds. Zhuyu Peak is famous because of Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei's verse 'Each planting Zhuyu, but one person is missing.' Taking the cable car to the top offers a panoramic view of the Taihang Mountains. Shuttle buses connect the scenic spots, and the trails are gentle, suitable for family outings. My understanding is that one day is not enough to see everything, so prioritize the two core spots, Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Shuttle buses may have long lines, so allow enough time. Summer offers refreshing waterside experiences, while autumn features colorful forests; both are enjoyable.

Tips: The hiking sections have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to take the cable car. Visitors generally feedback that Hongshi Gorge is considered the most photogenic section, and the sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak is also worth seeing. Keep in mind that shuttle buses often have long lines, so if one day is not enough, prioritize Hongshi Gorge and Monkey Valley. Considering the real situation, be mindful of time, arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings. It's better for people to wait for the vehicle than for the vehicle to wait for people; don’t make everyone wait for you.
