Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Assemble in the morning and depart for Wangcheng Park. Follow the tour guide to visit the main route, covering all the highlights, leaving ample time for taking photos and resting. At noon, enjoy local specialty meals. In the afternoon, continue exploring in depth. In the evening, check into the hotel and recharge to prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Attraction Introduction: One of the highlights arranged in the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang. It is named because it sits on the site of the ancient Eastern Zhou royal city, and it has been one of the main venues for the Peony Cultural Festival in Luoyang for many years. It is also the city park most familiar to Luoyang residents. Every April, famous peony varieties such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in the park, creating a spectacular display of colors. The park also preserves the ruins of the Zhou royal city and has a zoo, combining historical depth with leisure functions. It is a classic destination for visitors to check in at the “Peony Flower City.” In my opinion, if visiting during peony season (April), this place should definitely be on your must-visit list. Early in the morning, there are fewer people and the peonies with morning dew are at their most delicate; outside of the flower season, it is more suitable for a leisurely stroll.

Tips: When visiting the park with children, be mindful of the risk of getting separated. Agree on a meeting point in advance and prepare contact cards for your children. According to general tourist feedback, most visitors think Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow the pace, follow the guide for explanations, and reserve time for the details that move you the most and the best photo spots. Considering actual circumstances, keep your ID and wallet separated. Take photos of important documents and store them on your phone as a backup so that if they are lost, you can replace them quickly without affecting your itinerary.

Day 2: Laojun Mountain

Early in the morning, take the first two-stage cable car to reach the Golden Summit, checking in at the temple complex and enjoying the sea of clouds and sunrise; in the afternoon, slowly descend along the Ten-Mile Painting Screen, moving and changing scenery along the way, and return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is the Golden Summit. Located in Luanchuan County, it is the main peak of the Funiu Mountains and a famous Taoist mountain, reputedly the place where Laozi, the founder of Taoism, went into seclusion to cultivate. The temple complex at the Golden Summit stands atop a peak over 2,000 meters above sea level, with golden tiled roofs and red walls, surrounded by rolling seas of clouds, and is praised as 'a stunning feast in the human world, a glimpse of the glory of human civilization.' The Ten-Mile Painting Screen is the essence of the whole journey, a high-altitude plank road suspended along a cliff that offers constantly changing scenery of peaks, seas of clouds, and sunrise. Visitors can take a two-stage cable car up the mountain. On clear days, you can watch the sea of clouds and sunrise from the summit; in winter, it is a popular spot for snow viewing in central China. My understanding is that it is essential to take the cable car early to secure the best lighting at the Golden Summit and the Ten-Mile Painting Screen; the summit is windy and cold, so a jacket and an insulated bottle are standard, and those who are timid about the glass observation deck should not force themselves.

Kind Reminder: The mountain trail has many steps and steep slopes, so it is necessary to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility issues are advised to take the cable car. Visitors generally report that the sea of clouds and the sunrise at the Golden Summit are the main attractions, with many people staying on the summit specifically to catch dawn. Note that the temperature difference at the summit is large and cable car queues are long, so during peak season, try to go early. Depending on the situation, carry some small change and packaged snacks for when the signals are weak or for temporary need, and don't wait until you're hungry to look for them.

Day 3: Longmen Grottoes

Today's tour Longmen Grottoes suggests spending half a day: the main cave of Xishan Mountain, the East Mountain Grandstand, and Baiyuan of Xiangshan Temple are all connected, followed by explanations to understand the stories behind the stone carvings of the Northern Wei and flourishing Tang dynasties; Return in the evening to rest.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Longmen Grottoes, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, and other dynasties. There are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions preserved. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and benevolent eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after Wu Zetian's likeness, marking the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is one of China's three great grottoes and a World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: UV rays are strong in the grottoes, so bring a sun hat and sunscreen on sunny days, and remember to stay hydrated since the route is long. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the best sunlight at sunset on the Western Hills; If you need to walk back along both banks of the Yi River, it's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and reserve half a day. Considering actual conditions, mountain weather can change quickly; a windproof jacket is more practical than anything; Always choose shoes that are non-slip and comfortable, and avoid spraining your ankle if you take fewer photos.
