Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Depart from the hotel early in the morning and head straight to the royal city, first listening to the guide explain the background and highlights, then enjoy a leisurely tour and take additional camera photos based on your interests; After lunch, take a short rest and return to the hotel in the evening to recharge for the next day.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located on Luoyang, named for its location atop the ruins of the Eastern Zhou royal city. It has been one of the main venues for the China Luoyang Peony Culture Festival and is the most familiar city park to Luoyang residents. Every April, famous peonies such as Yao Huang, Wei Purple, and Zhao Pink bloom in a dazzling display of vibrant colors; The park also preserves the ruins of Zhou King's City and a zoo, combining historical heritage with leisure functions, making it a classic spot for visitors to check in at the "Peony Flower City." My understanding is that if you visit during peony season (April), you must make this a must-visit spot. Early mornings with fewer people and peonies with dew are most vibrant; Outside the flowering season, it's more suitable for leisurely walks.

Friendly reminder: Popular attractions have long queues. Upon entering, get a map and performance schedule to prioritize the must-see attractions. Visitors generally report that most think Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip. It's recommended to slow down and follow the guide to listen to the explanations, saving time for the most moving details and the best camera angles. Based on actual conditions, be punctual. Gather five to ten minutes early—better to wait for the bus than for the car—don't make everyone wait for you.

Day 2: Longmen Grottoes

Today's tour Longmen Grottoes suggests spending half a day: the main cave of Xishan Mountain, the East Mountain Grandstand, and Baiyuan of Xiangshan Temple are all connected, followed by explanations to understand the stories behind the stone carvings of the Northern Wei and flourishing Tang dynasties; Return in the evening to rest.

Attraction introduction: A highlight of the itinerary is Longmen Grottoes, carved into the cliffs on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang city. Since Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, construction has continued through Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, and other dynasties. There are over 2,300 cave niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 inscriptions and inscriptions preserved. The most impressive is the Vairocana Buddha at Fengxian Temple, standing over 17 meters tall, with a plump face and benevolent eyes. Legend has it that it was carved after Wu Zetian's likeness, marking the pinnacle of Tang dynasty stone carving art. Along with Dunhuang Mogao Caves and Datong Yungang, it is one of China's three great grottoes and a World Cultural Heritage site. When touring, head south along the Yi River trail from the Xishan Grottoes, where Binyang Three Caves, Ten Thousand Buddha Caves, and Lotus Cave each have highlights. Cross the bridge to the Dongshan Buddha Worship Platform for a panoramic view. My understanding is that in the morning, first visit the main cave of Xishan and admire the Big Buddha while there are fewer people; in the afternoon, go to the Dongshan Viewing Platform for the best lighting and angle; If you need to walk backward along both banks of the Yi River, a pair of comfortable shoes can save you a lot of effort.

Friendly reminder: The UV rays in the Grotto Scenic Area are quite strong. On sunny days, bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and remember to stay hydrated since the route is long. Visitors generally report that most find the Vairocana Buddha the most breathtaking, and the best light at sunset on the Western Hills; If you need to walk back along both banks of the Yi River, it's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and allow half a day. Based on the actual situation, don't just focus on taking photos—pay attention to your steps and the surrounding environment, and be sure to stand firmly on the edge of the viewing platform and boardwalk.

Day 3: Baiyun Mountain

In the morning, take a vehicle to Baiyun Mountain and climb to the Yuhuang Peak to see the sea of clouds; have a simple meal at the mountaintop at noon, and in the afternoon visit the Jiulong Waterfalls and the Alpine Peony Garden, breathing in the forest's fresh oxygen. Descend in the evening and stay overnight.

Scenic spot introduction: This stop is Baiyun Mountain. Baiyun Mountain is located in the heart of Funiu Mountains in Song County. From Yuhuang Peak, you can enjoy the sunrise over the sea of clouds. With high forest coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions, it is a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic area, the Jiulong Waterfalls and Alpine Peony Garden each have their own features. It is one of the few high-altitude resort scenic areas suitable for summer cooling and autumn leaf viewing. You can use the cableway or scenic shuttle to connect the points. The mountaintop offers a broad view with mist swirling around, looking like a fairyland. In my opinion, visiting in summer to escape the heat is most worthwhile, as the coolness of the mountains contrasts sharply with the sweltering city. Waking up early to climb Yuhuang Peak to see the sunrise over the clouds requires a bit of luck, but even if you miss the sunrise, the mountain scenery in the morning fog is beautiful enough.

Warm tips: Many mountain paths are slippery, especially downhill, so pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your steps. A pair of knee guards is recommended. Visitors generally feedback that most believe Baiyun Mountain is worth a special visit. It is suggested to slow down, follow the guide's explanations, and reserve time for the details that touch you most and the best photography spots. Depending on the situation, the best photo times are early or late in the day—fewer people and soft lighting in the morning, golden glow at sunset. The midday light is harsh and crowded, so it’s better to rest then.
