Day 1: Wangcheng Park

Assemble in the morning and set off for the royal city. Follow the tour guide to visit the main attractions along the primary route, covering all the highlights one by one, with ample time reserved for photography and rest; enjoy a local specialty meal at noon, continue exploring in the afternoon, and check into a hotel in the evening to rest and recharge for the next day's itinerary.

Sightseeing introduction: One of the highlights arranged in this itinerary is Wangcheng Park. Wangcheng Park is located in Luoyang, named so because it sits atop the ruins of the Eastern Zhou royal city. It has been one of the main venues for the Peony Cultural Festival in Luoyang and is also the city park most familiar to Luoyang residents. Every April, famous peony varieties such as Yao Huang, Wei Zi, and Zhao Fen bloom in the park, creating a spectacular display of vibrant colors; the park also preserves the Zhou royal city ruins and a zoo, combining historical significance with recreational functions, making it a classic destination for visitors to the 'Peony Flower City.' In my opinion, if visiting during the peony season (April), be sure to make this a must-visit spot, as it is less crowded in the early morning and the dewy peonies are at their most delicate; outside of the flowering season, it is more suitable for a leisurely stroll.

Tips: When visiting the park with children, be mindful of the risk of getting lost; agree on a meeting point in advance and give your child a contact card. Most visitors generally feel that Wangcheng Park is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide for explanations, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Based on practical considerations, dehydration is the biggest concern on long trips, so carry a water bottle and drink small amounts frequently; on the first night in high-altitude or mountainous areas, avoid washing your hair or bathing for too long to give your body some time to adjust.

Day 2: Free activities

Early in the morning, enter Chongdugou, enjoy a walk along the bamboo forest trail and view the waterfall clusters while it's cool—ideal for a leisurely family stroll; in the afternoon, enjoy free activities, catch up on photos or take a short rest, and return in the evening.

Warm tips: On free activity days, there is no fixed schedule. Before heading out, note your hotel location and meeting time, make sure your phone is fully charged, and bring a power bank. Visitors generally report that most people use free activity days to sleep in, then explore, eat, and take additional photos at a relaxed pace. Depending on your situation, carry some small change and snack-size packages of food, which can be useful if the signal is weak or for last-minute supplies; don’t wait until you’re hungry to look for them.

Day 3: White Horse Temple

Today's Buddhist pilgrimage journey: Following the tour guide from Qiyun Pagoda to the Sutra Repository, we listened along the way and understood the two thousand years of incense offerings at China's first ancient temple; in the afternoon, we strolled around the temple, and in the evening, we rested.

Attraction introduction: A highlight arranged in the itinerary is White Horse Temple, located in the eastern part of Luoyang city. It was first built during the Yongping years of the Eastern Han Dynasty to commemorate the White Horse carrying the scriptures and the initial transmission of Buddhism to the Central Plains. It is honored as 'China's first ancient temple' and is the first government-built temple after Buddhism was introduced to China. Inside the temple, the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Hall of Heavenly Kings are arranged along the central axis, with incense burning continuously among red walls and green cypresses for over two thousand years. It is worth mentioning that the temple also has foreign-style Buddha halls donated by countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and India, presenting a unique landscape of Buddhist culture spreading eastward and returning. My understanding is to first see the main halls along the central axis, then circle to the Qiyun Pagoda Courtyard, and finally visit the exotic Buddha halls on the sides to experience cultural fusion; visiting early in the morning when there are fewer people is best, as the morning light on the red walls and ancient cypresses is the most poetic, and it also helps to avoid the peak of tour groups.

Warm tips: The temple has many stone steps and thresholds—do not step on the thresholds when crossing. When worshiping, follow the order and do not push. Visitors generally report that the exotic-style Buddha halls (Thai/Myanmar/Indian courtyards) are photogenic, and people find them more spacious than expected. Note that the international temple area requires a fair amount of walking, so save some energy. According to actual conditions, when taking photos, don’t just focus on getting good shots—pay attention to your feet and surroundings. Always stand steadily at viewing platforms and along the edges of plank roads.
