Day 1: Jiguan Cave

Morning: Visit the karst cave to see stalactites of various shapes; have lunch nearby at noon; in the afternoon, you can visit in continuation, the cave and the gorge complement each other, and return in the evening.

Attraction Introduction: Today’s itinerary includes one attraction, which is the karst cave in Luanchuan. Inside the cave, stalactites come in a variety of shapes; stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone flowers appear in stunning colors under the lighting, with a constant and pleasant temperature all year round, warm in winter and cool in summer. The cave has densely packed attractions, offering changing scenery at every step. With the guide's explanation, you can understand the wonders of geological changes spanning hundreds of millions of years. Together with the gorge, each cave and gorge complement each other, forming a classic geological sightseeing route in western Henan. My understanding is that when entering the cave, remember to follow the guide, as the formation and naming of the stalactites are very interesting, and you could easily miss highlights on your own; the cave floor is slippery, and some areas are low, so wear non-slip shoes and watch your head.

Tips: The hiking sections have many steps and steep slopes, so be sure to wear non-slip sports shoes. Those with mobility difficulties are advised to use the cable car to go up and down. Most visitors generally feel that the cave is worth visiting specifically. It is recommended to slow down, listen to the guide, and leave time for the details that move you most and for the best photo spots. Depending on actual conditions, be mindful of time; arrive five to ten minutes early for gatherings. It’s better for people to wait for the bus than for the bus to wait for people; don’t let everyone wait for you.

Day 2: Erlitou

Set off from the hotel early in the morning directly to Erlitou. First, listen to the tour guide explain the background and highlights, then enjoy a leisurely walk at your own pace and take additional photos according to your interests; after lunch, have a short rest, and return to the hotel in the evening to conserve energy for the next day.

Attraction Introduction: Today's itinerary includes the Erlitou attraction. The Erlitou site is located in Luoyang Yanshi and is acclaimed by academics as the 'earliest China.' It is a large urban site from the middle and late Xia Dynasty, where turquoise dragon-shaped artifacts, bronze jues, bronze ding, and other significant relics were unearthed, revealing the appearance of the first capital of the Huaxia civilization. The turquoise dragon-shaped artifact is inlaid with over two thousand turquoise pieces and is known as the 'First Dragon of Huaxia,' serving as important evidence of dragon worship in China. The Erlitou Site Museum presents the archaeological site vividly and is an indispensable stop for studying the origins of Chinese civilization. In my understanding, having a preliminary understanding of the academic controversies regarding the 'Xia Capital' before viewing the exhibits will provide deeper insight; the museum's exhibition is carefully curated and worth seeing slowly.

Tips: Mountain areas have large temperature differences between morning and evening, and the wind is strong at the top. A windproof jacket and warm inner layers are essential. Visitors generally feedback that most think Erlitou is worth a special visit. It is recommended to slow down, follow the tour guide's explanations, and reserve time for the details that move you most and the best spots for photos. According to the actual situation, when taking pictures, do not focus only on the shots; pay attention to your footing and surroundings, and make sure to stand steadily at scenic platforms and boardwalk edges.

Day 3: Baiyun Mountain

Today's vacation trip: Ride the cable car and sightseeing bus to connect Yuhuangding, Jiulong Waterfall, and the Alpine Peony Garden, with a relaxed pace; free activities in the afternoon and rest in the evening.

Attraction introduction: This stop is Baiyun Mountain, located in the Funiu Mountains of Song County. From Yuhuangding, you can enjoy the sea of clouds at sunrise. The area has a high forest coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions, making it a natural oxygen bar. Within the scenic spot, Jiulong Waterfall and the Alpine Peony Garden each have unique features. It is a rare high-altitude resort-type scenic area suitable for summer cooling and autumn leaf viewing. You can connect the attractions by cable car or sightseeing bus. The mountain top has expansive views, surrounded by mist, resembling a fairyland. My understanding is that visiting in summer for cooling is most worthwhile; the cool mountain air contrasts sharply with the city heat. Waking up early to climb Yuhuangding to see the sea of clouds and sunrise requires some luck, but even if you miss the sunrise, the mountains shrouded in morning mist are beautiful enough.

Tips: Many mountain roads are slippery, especially downhill, so pay attention to shifting your center of gravity backward and slowing your pace. It is advisable to bring a pair of knee pads. Feedback from visitors generally indicates that most believe Baiyun Mountain is worth a special trip. It is recommended to slow down, follow the guide’s commentary, and leave time for the details that move you most and the best photo spots. Depending on the situation, the best times for photography are early morning or late afternoon—fewer people and soft light in the morning, golden glow at dusk is ideal, while midday overhead light is harsh and crowded, so it’s better spent resting.
